Almost 10,000 authors have come together to publish an empty book protesting the theft of books by tech companies to train AI models.
Titled Don’t Steal This Book, it is empty of text except the names of the authors involved.. 🧵

Good to see Word on the Water still going strong in London. It’s a bookstore on a canal barge.
But not so good? Influencers/Instagramers/Etc there just to pose for photos while getting in the way of those of us trying to buy stuff.

The amount of care and detail put into Anderson’s films are well documented, but it was nice to see the badges from Moonrise Kingdom, the puppets and miniatures from The Life Aquatic, Fantastic Mr. Fox, and Isle of Dogs all up close.

The exhibit is also pretty immense with sections devoted to each of his films. He’s saved tons of stuff and I especially enjoyed seeing paintings like “Boy With Apple” and Murray’s melancholy family portrait from Rushmore.

Wes Anderson: The Archives is a heckuva exhibit for fans of his films and/or anyone who appreciates lovingly created film props, costumes, etc.
Check out the model for The Grand Budapest Hotel. Great stuff.
It’s currently on at the Design Museum in London.

This is an absolute humanitarian disaster.

Another reason why this will be interesting if nothing else. American SNL has vets who have been on for years to do the heavy lifting while the newbies adjust and find their grooves. This will be all freshman and will Sky give them enough time to sort things out?
This is two weeks away from debuting. I predict it will be off the air in less than a year or prove so successful it starts spawning films based on sketches that slowly decline in quality over the course of two decades.

If anyone is friends with any Georgian air traffic controllers, buy them a nice bottle of wine. As guardians of pretty much the only narrow gap still available between Europe and Asia that avoids both Iran, the Gulf, Ukraine and Russia, they are under some substantial pressure.
