Using strong driving, Vivek showed how simultaneously driving multiple CCR transitions can remove conditionality, implementing 2-qubit CR and 1-qubit R gates. And he used Raman transitions to drive CiSWAP and CbSWAP rotations, all with above 99% fidelity.

This ZZ is so strong that driving a transition is now a 3-qubit conditional rotation (CCR) gate. And every transition has a distinct frequency, so phase updates can do virtual Phase, CPhase, and CCPhase gates!

The trimon is a ring of 4 JJs with capacitor pads at each node. It implements 3 modes of oscillation, all looking like transmons. Importantly, because of the JJ nonlinearity, the modes all have strong dispersive interactions. In the qubit space this looks like >100 MHz ZZ coupling.

Vivek Maurya led a team from my group, Daniel Lidar's theory group at USC, and R. Vijay's group at TIFR to create a planar version of the "trimon" circuit that Vijay's group invented several years ago. Importantly, the planar geometry allows for strong driving.
