It's a Regional Fisheries Management Organization responsible for the conservation and management of #tuna in the Eastern Pacific Ocean. The commission sets quotas, establishes #fishing rules, and implements #conservation measures.

As we prepare for the 103rd Inter-American Tropical Tuna Commission (#IATTC) annual meeting next week, we’re calling for:
👀 Increasing #observercoverage to at least 20% for small purse seine vessels with a timeline to reach 100% across all industrial tuna fisheries.
🔎 Effective monitoring is fundamental to #sustainable fisheries management.
💡 That’s why we’ve launched our new campaign, #NoBlindSpots, to close the gaps that make it impossible to fully manage #tuna stocks, verify compliance, and ensure crew welfare.
🌍 Under the jurisdiction of the International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tunas (ICCAT) RFMO, the Atlantic Ocean is home to 7 species of tuna.
