I reference both you and @josiegz.bsky.social in that work! Mostly amplifying and extending the good thinking and ideas you've both been discussing on this front.

Paresthesia (tongue 2) 2018

An embroidery on black linen. There is the outline of an open mouth with the tongue sticking out. The lips are outlined in dark pink, the tongue in paler pink, & the teeth in bone white. There are sections outlined on the tongue in thick blue lines. The tip & sides of the tongue are covered in tiny red, orange & white dots. In the center there is an hourglass shape of tiny pink dots. There are taut lines of thin dark blue thread stretched from the tip of the tongue to the sides, from the sides of the tongue to the lips & palate, & from the palate to the tip of the tongue.

Why the term β€œwomen of childbearing age” is problematic New movie The Substance showcases how women are thought about in terms of youth and fertility. That idea makes for bad research and health guidance.

So I watched The Substance last week and feel pretty confident some of those images will be burned into my mind forever.

It got me thinking about the impacts of problematic thinking about women. Especially the use of the term "women of childbearing age" www.technologyreview.com/2024/11/15/1... πŸ§ͺ
