A sharply focused Eurasian magpie stands alert on a weathered tree stump, its glossy black head and back contrasting with a bright white shoulder and belly. The bird’s pale grey bill and dark, watchful eye are turned slightly to the side, giving it an inquisitive expression. Soft green foliage blurs into the background, isolating the magpie’s striking black-and-white plumage while a few blades of grass sprout from the textured stump beneath its feet.

A couple of moss-covered tree trunks that have been swept over by the river so many times they lean heavily downstream. Some of their roots reach down and have been exposed by the river. Some dry grass in spots. River is running clear and several rocks are visible in it ☮️
