I'm still getting the hang of the brave new world of Bluesky posts (Blues? Blurbs? BS or whatever we're all going to end up calling them) - but this is a really interesting report, and worth a read:
People with pre-settled status were considerably less likely to understand their rights. For example, a third of in-work PSS holders didn't know they could claim benefits.
Our survey results suggest migrants have less certainty about their entitlements when immigration rules are complex.
Most respondents hadnβt experienced a problem proving their right to live/work, but issues were more common among people with a digital-only status.
48% of digital-only respondents who encountered an issue cited the person checking their status not accepting the proof provided.
If migrants can't prove their immigration status, they can't access housing, receive healthcare, or work
At the time of the survey, people with EUSS statuses did this with a digital βeVisaβ, while many non-EUSS status holders (e.g., people with a work or family visa) could show a physical document.
Non-EU migrants may start to experience the problems some EU digital status holders have had accessing jobs and housing, because the Home Office is currently rolling out eVisas for non-EUSS status holders.
This means most non-citizens will have a digital-only status from 2025.
Migrants who had experienced problems proving their immigration status in the past were less confident they could generate a digital 'share code' to do it in the future.
Older people were also less confident they could use a digital share code to prove their status.
We surveyed 5,000 non-UK citizens about their experiences of the UK immigration system
Many migrants are unclear about their rights in the UK, while others had issues proving their rights to access housing, jobs & healthcare

Just to reassure you, weβll be posting lots of interesting things soon. Just waiting to have some actually good stuff rather than general chit chat. (No criticism of chit chat, just not the MO wayβ¦)
@easyjet.bsky.social - thanks for the option to keep warm on the flight.
Full disclosure.
