As Bulma, Goku, and Oolong travel on their boat, the sound effect for such action is the succinct "BOAAA...T!!
Always gotta take a moment to appreciate what might be the best sound effect in manga history.

It just strikes me that people will gush about the use of medium in Scott Pilgrim Takes Off to the point of it inspiring a video game revival, but the warmest artistic praise adaptations seem to muster in the other direction is "it's fine."
What gets me about this is - can somebody name a single one of these in the last ~20 years that maintained half the cultural relevance of its original that isn't named Speed Racer (2009)?
Every time I begin to feel the imposter syndrome creep in, one of these yokels crosses my timeline and I remember that I'm doing all right actually.
A screenshot from Pokopia of Ditto - a purple-pink blob with an emoji face - slumped over asleep and emitting cartoon Zs. Text reads "Oh dear... It looks like SOMEONE needs a bit more sleep!"

A picture of my arm, toasting a goblet of grapefruit soda, in front of a TV running the visual novel game Variable Barricade. My orange cat is observing the soda with great interest.
Having visual novels available portably is convenient and all, but real ones know that *all* novels are meant for luxuriating in the home.
#DatingSimMonth
Right?
I'm still feeling out my preference between the Browt and Pombom, but there's not an obvious weak link among them like there so often is.
Already gettin' hype for more Dogsred, Noda has such a gift for drawing distinct characters and obnoxious action. Givin' Oda a run for his money, on ice.
Nuts to "insignificant", touches like this are the entire reason I love playing exploration-forward games (and why I struggle to engage with procedurally-generated environments).
Finding the fingerprints in the clay is a straight path to endearment.
We cannot and should not let generative AI take away these tiny, insignificant, but probably fun as hell jobs from artists
An image of a largely unpolished garden gnome in a video game, viewed from such a low angle that it's making eye contact. The edges of the screen betray a beard at the bottom and red cap at the top - you, too, are Gnome.
Burglin' Gnomes (NextFest Demo)!
I honestly don't mind this wave of $5 co-op games whose premises have the longevity of a tabletop game (which has a similar per-player time/value proposition).
Specifically I welcome non-horror options, even one this yet-underpolished. Spring Boots are fun, dammit.
An illustration of Squirtle, Charmander, and Bulbasaur overlooking an overgrown, post-apocalyptic, industrial city. There are pokemon roaming and resting in the background such as skiploom, unfezant, and altaria.
a loose illustration of piplup and torchic running through the snow, seen from above. they’re wearing winter hats and cloaks, and there are light blue shadows of trees and footprints in the snow
Illustration of piplup and torchic in a floaty together. They are floating in the water through some old stone formations. The stones behind them are stacked and carved like a slowbro and its tail. There are also some taillows and cutieflies around the area
Illustration of peaceful scenery based on Palette town, with a wide field of grass and a couple buildings and windmills. There are wooloo on the grass with a sleeping nidoran among them. On the rooftop in the foreground, some starlies are perched and a ratatta is nibbling on bread. Skiplooms are floating about. There are white clouds and a rainbow in the sky in the back. The faint silhouette of a ho-oh can be seen flying under the rainbow.

A screenshot from the opening of Altered Alma. A cyborg woman is lounging toward the screen, action distorted into tunnel vision.
A screenshot from the demo of Altered Alma. In a pixel-art-rendered metal room in front of a mechanical cityscape, a grinning purple alien in a pilot's shirt-and-vest is grinning and remarking "Hi, Jack." On the right, a proud robot warrior is posing and deciding whether to reply with a flirty "Let's talk about you, Harry." (denoted by hearts) or a flat "Bye" (denoted by a sigil for an exit door)
A screenshot from the demo of Altered Alma. In a pixel-art-rendered metal room backlit by the soft purple-pink hues of a metropolis, a hologram of a police-tape barrier hovers overhead explicitly noting "BLOCKED for DEMO"
A screenshot from the pause menus in the demo of Altered Alma. Rendered in green, the DATA page holds a subsection marked with a heart, wherein VERA and HARRINO "HARRY" Y'ASTRELLA options are presented. Harry is selected, his purple-skinned visage beaming at the camera. Two out of seven hearts are lit up next to his name.
Altered Alma (NextFest Demo)!
Adore the neon aesthetic and animation style - clearly somebody else played Megaman Zero at a formative time. Bonus points for the diegetic Demo boundaries.
Not sure if it qualifies for #DatingSimMonth, but I'd schmooze up alien rogues between scrounging for biomods.

I'm always a sucker for Kshatriya, but your style suits the God Gundam so well!
Trying to imagine any other genre - gaming or otherwise - where the primary examples that dominate mainstream discussion could be described as being varying degrees of parody.
You really do have to take dating sims/romances seriously. Not love them. Not know everything about them. Not even play them. But take them seriously. They're a legitimate, influential, long-running genre, and the lack of awareness and acceptance in English-speaking circles should be embarrassing.

A screenshot from Twin Peaks. An FBI agent driving in a car is saying "Diane, 11:30am, February 24th. I'm entering the town of Twin Peaks" into a dictaphone.
Happy 'entering the town of Twin Peaks' day to those that celebrate 🥳

A classic four-panel meme comic taken from animated show "The Grimm Adventures of Billy & Mandy". A very cool dude with an eyepatch is driving his car and remarking that "Nobody is born cool. Except, of course...". He then pulls down his sun visor to look at an obviously-edited-in picture of James Hurley from TV serial Twin Peaks and smile fondly. The joke here plays off the famous and dubiously-correct line from late in the show's run that "James was always cool". He was, in fact, very much a dork to the point that large swaths of the fanbase were pointedly vocal in their disdain for him. Some people just can't handle lovable cringe, I guess.

About nine weeks into our senior year, the remaining French teacher was informed that the language wouldn't be offered next year.
I am oddly familiar with the 2002 Count of Monte Cristo, the 1998 Man in the Iron Mask, and Belle's Enchanted Christmas.
I urge you to stop what you're doing and watch Alysa Liu's free skate from yesterday. I have never seen anything like this. I understand why sports writers are born now. I have never seen anyone as free from the burdens of this world as this pierced Oakland girl spinning to Donna Summers.
I strongly feel that we should post "library hauls" in the same way that we do mail days or shopping runs.
Same interest-signaling. Same conversation points (just had a gab with a friend about Kyoshi). But more centered on community and less on (inherent) capitalism!
A pile of books - a green-and-gold copy of Gibson's seminal sci-fi novel "Neuromancer", queer graphic novels "Boyfriends" by Refrainbow and "Transparent Light Blue" by Iwami, and casual manga "God Bless the Mistaken" by Nio, next to an upright copy of Lee's "The Rise of Kyoshi" featuring a fantastical warrior in Japanese-inspired robes and white face paint encircled by an ink swirl. The upright book is the only one workout white library labels.

Why are we pouring several countries' worth of GDP into lying machines when we could be producing Librarians' Labels that are easy to remove (with/without a specialized tool) and leave no residue when a book is honorably discharged?
