I understand how prescribing etc. work. I also know how diagnosis works. That was rather part of my point. The article also doesn't mention GPs except to note that it puts them in a difficult position. Which it does. Again, the proper response is to have proper NHS provision.

The accusations is about private providers. So the correct response to have proper public provision.

I don't know if that's a reply about me but I actually have a wife and son with ADHD and I work in mental health care supporting students to access ADHD diagnosis and prescribing services and provide executive function coaching and reasonable adjustment plans.

From what I read, the article expresses serious concerns about how these medications are being prescribed. To my mind that is an argument for having properly funded NHS services that can be accessed in a safe and timely manner.
