Yes, all the "trauma recovery" stuff can feel overwhelming &, well, stupid when we're triggered. The truth is, we're learning how to hold & soothe & validate ourselves-- things we were never taught-- in those moments. I know how it feels. But stick w/ it. Don't abandon yourself.

Making acknowledgment or apology from an abusive person, institution, or community a centerpiece of our trauma recovery blueprint is an excellent way to make sure we're gonna stay wounded forever.

F*ck that. They don't get to decide the timeline of our healing.

Processing trauma memories is one part of the recovery work (though often not as straightforward a part as many people assume)-- but challenging the sh*tty things trauma has conned & conditioned us into believing about ourselves is what long term recovery is ultimately about.

A memory doesn't have to be overtly, obviously "traumatic" to be "sticky" & activating to our nervous system. Don't judge the memories & experiences that f*ck w/ you.

Meet them w/ compassion, patience, & skill-- no matter how "traumatic" or not they seem.

Someone reading this needs to know that just because you don't have clear, coherent, linear memories of the past doesn't mean you're not deeply wounded & in need of trauma recovery tools & support.

Conscious memories are not the only evidence of trauma.
