The great historian of Southeast Asia, Anthony (Tony) Reid, died yesterday in Canberra, aged 85. His studies transformed our understanding of Indonesia and the region. A professor at the ANU for many years, he also founded institutes at UCLA & NUS. And he was a lovely person
