This morning, US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth announced that a US submarine sunk an Iranian ship in international waters off the coast of Sri Lanka.

Today, Canadian PM Mark Carney delivered a strong and completely sensible speech to the Australian Parliament, where he said “In a world of great power rivalry, middle powers have a choice: compete for favour or combine for strength”.

I remember how the “shock and awe” of the US attack on Iraq ended in decades of broken cities, broken people and broken promises. Trump’s and Netanyahu’s bombs today can only produce more of this in Iran. Australia must reject this illegal attack.

If Reform had won this, it would be all over our media as an ‘unstoppable force’ and Hanson would be platformed as saying it was inevitable here. But no one ever treats a progressive win in the same way. That’s an ‘outlier’
