And so we write to brilliant postgraduate students from Sudan, withdrawing the offers and scholarships they won in open competition with the best in the world. A sad day for the University of Oxford.

The cuts to USAID have already killed over 750,000 people.

Projections show millions more will die.

It is a completely avoidable tragedy, yet almost no one is talking about the sheer scale of it.

We know exactly who is responsible for this horror

Here in a nutshell is all the failures of the "serious" media (here The Economist) regarding Trump. They have commissioned a serious grown-up commentator to write this. And look at the result. Look in particular at that "strangely lacking interest"... /1

From the glasgow community on Reddit: Morning drone footage of the fire Explore this post and more from the glasgow community

a lot of comments this morning about the rate at which old buildings in Glasgow go up in flames so I just want to say: as a bystander with no direct knowledge of this fire, but a good bit of knowledge about old buildings burning, i don’t think this one is sketchy.

Really hope the horrible Glasgow fire scenes cause a national discussion about vape shops.

Every high street in the UK has been padded with retailers of unregulated, mass made devices with incredibly flammable batteries.

Like having a fireworks factory on every street corner

Fills me with so much pain to see how frequently - by both intent and neglect in different ways - Glasgow's stunning built heritage is being lost. Can't help but feel that few cities and countries with our level of historic architecture allow so many to be destroyed, rotted or burned.

I always thought that the Iraq war dossier was Labour's original sin. But it's not, is it? It's the systematic lies about immigration. It's a free choice, under minimal electoral or geopolitical pressure, to cross their core supporters' moral red lines, over and over again. Insane.

When someone says β€žScientists do not want you to knowβ€œ you can dismiss everything from there on. Scientists want you to know. They are desperate that you know. They can’t shut up about what they found out and want you to know.

Enough sanewashing. The guy has no clue about strategy. He doesn't care about America, never mind countries. It's like asking a dog rolling in a dead pigeon "what's your endgame?"

That’s an easy one.

All the countries that are a BIG threat to the world and are left alone - Russia, North Korea… - have one thing in common:

NUCLEAR WEAPONS

That is why many countries will now think: Christ, Trump could, on a whim, bomb us. We must have nuclear weapons

Trump endangers everyone

Can't stop laughing at a story my friend told me yesterday about going to meet a work contact at the gates of Trinity. He went up to another waiting man and said "Are you Michael?" "Yes" "Will we go for a coffee?" "Sure." Over a coffee he realises it's not the Michael he's meant to be meeting.

Americans don't really understand the British class system, so they've not picked up on how weird the Andrew-Epstein relationship was. Epstein was working class. Rich, yes, but to Andrew, still working class. Princes are not friendly to oiks made rich. So why was he a friend of Epstein?
