I just rode through on a cargo bike with another person on a bike and some pedestrians. It was perfectly fine.

I’ve had to tell so many parents that their sons & daughters were dead, had been murdered. Their screams, their silences, their faces, their collapses, cling to me like cobwebs I can’t ever shake.

Music and art. They persist. There is no technical reason why they survive. They require effort, yet don't in any tangible way contribute to survival at a organism level. We might expect that evolution by way of natural selection would not have resulted in their persistence. And yet here we are.

These pretty, day-flying moths (Heliolonche pictipennis), only about 1 cm. long, are one of my favorite desert spring insects. The only flowers they visit (desert dandelion, desert chicory, or scale bud) close up at night; the moths sleep inside them, which is scientifically adorable. #BugSky 🌿🐙🌼

Drivers should be more careful and more aware of what's happening outside of their vehicle, also keeping their eyes on the road, not their phone or other screens!

I just rode my bike home from the hospital over some pretty impressive, layered pothole patches. And it feels like such a disconnect that people don’t think of the cost of street repairs we will need because of those thousands of drives every day. Oof.
