My new unwind activity is playing No Man's Sky. It's a strangely peaceful game, exploring planets, floating through space, and helps me tune out the day so I can sleep restfully at night.

Why did I design a character with stripes on their outfit? Clearly self-hate.
I think Baby Driver may be one of my all-time favorite movies. In particular, Jon Hamm's character arc, and both his and Jamie Foxx's menacing presence. It's not a film that makes me feel good watching it, as much as it makes me feel everything that happens in it with such gripping intensity.
Remember when they used to tell us, "when writing, don't start a sentence with 'and'"? That was bullshit.
I love how I had a thought that didn't really appeal to anyone and the first thing I did was go online and post it. Four people liked it, and honestly, that's more than it deserved.
Random gripe: while I actually really enjoyed Scream 5 and 6, Melissa Barrera's Sam is meant to be Billy Loomis's daughter, and part of the symbolism of their relationship is the way she wipes blood off the knife...except Billy never did that. That was Stu Macher. Just bugged me.
"Demandhausen" is my new favorite term. Thank you, Danhausen.
My dog, Boomhauer, laying on the tile floor panting after playtime.
This little puppy-goblin is terrorizing my day. And he loves it.
Another Monday. Hope y'all are having a good start to your week!
Storytime: also evidence of how stupid I am. My new gaming PC, gifted to me, and built by a great friend, hasn't been working. I'm not a PC guy so I don't know much about how to get it to work. I try everything I can but, for some reason, games crash constantly and run poorly. --
He looks at me quizzically and I continue, "you gave me too much credit that I'd know even the most basic things about using a PC."
Laughs were shared. Some games were played and he was off home, both of us now having a new story to inspire a few chuckles.
Before even turning the machine on, he takes a look at the set up and smiles. "You didn't plug the monitor into the video card," he says. "That's it?" I responded, my embarrassment quickly growing. He explains to me where I erred and I finally said, "you know what the real mistake is?" --
My friend troubleshoots with me over video call and no luck. So he decides to make the trip over. It's 90 minutes away so it isn't just a casual thing. His day is busy and hectic so he can't get over until late in the evening. When he finally arrives, he gets straight to the scene of the crime. --

-- it will be awful for a lot of people who will lose their jobs and I really don't want to see this merger happen for that reason. But if you're a creative, an entrepreneur, an investor, then it's time to start planning because the opportunity to fill an entertainment vacuum will present itself.
The ultimate result of the attempted monopoly being created by the prospective merger of WB and Paramount is its own collapse. Unification of businesses in an industry doesn't create growth of the unified business. It creates a drought of interest. Audiences turn elsewhere and new business grows. --
All evens out eventually.
Not a bit. Gigs being canceled when freelancing is fairly common, but it sucks when it happens in such a narrow window. When you're freelancing, you cast a lot of lines unsuccessfully and even when you get bites, plenty of gigs just get away from you. It happens. I'm used to it.
My wife just discovered a photo of herself was being used on an NYC government website for community outreach. While she is the most stunning woman in the world, it's nice to have government confirmation.
Man, in the last two weeks, I had three gigs lined up and all three gigs canceled. Might have to buy some new deodorant cause clearly I stink.
He did leave the board. I don't know exactly the reasoning, but that could be it.
Seeing Jack Dorsey making massive layoffs at Block and embracing AI is pretty disheartening. I hope that mindset doesn't make it over here. Bluesky is the best thing that has happened to social media and communication in ages.
I lifted a washer/dryer yesterday. I did it with three other people, but I think it's still pretty impressive. Anyway, I think I'm two inches shorter today because of it.
I showed the film to my daughter and we got to the end scene at the Temple of Light and my daughter goes, "finally music that isn't techno!" And I just say, "wait for it." And a few seconds into the scene the music turns to techno. She was going to scream. I loved that soundtrack.
By all means, politicians, start your speeches by telling us about the small town you grew up in and what relatable jobs your parents had in an ineffectual way to endear yourself to us...
That it is.
It's a pretty brutal line. There may be one or two, or forty more lines like that in the film that are just hard to stomach.
I struggle to enjoy any MK adaptation without Linden Ashby and Cary Tagawa. That said, as a kid, I may have watched Mortal Kombat Annihilation dozens of times with very forgiving eyes.
Yea. That was definitely a better place to stop than where I stopped.
I love that of all the gifs, this is the one that would probably irk more MK fans the most as Liu's victory over Shang Tsung was definitely not a flawless victory. Regardless, I love this movie so much.
