I’m excited to see Black Wolves Saga getting a port to modern consoles. But it’s like Rejet really just had to drop their “secretly a retelling of Orwell’s Animal Farm” dating game now with the current state of everything political. Well, time to replay the original game and get depressed.

I am not beating the Spencer Reid allegations today, friends. Hello, people with degrees, it is me again and yes, I still have those academic journals I’ve been reading.

The mind remembers the hurtful things better than kindness, so there is a natural bias.

I’m not saying it’s all that. But with the younger men falling into the alpha men to alt right trend, it makes some sense for some of them. With social media, it naturally amplifies the inflammatory comments. Even if everyone isn’t patient, the voice that seems most loud pushes them there.

What is needed is radical empathy. While there is plenty that won’t change, there are others that will listen, especially when things aren’t working out for them. Polarization can be resolved but it needs empathy.

Cults, and usage of thought reform techniques, gain power by targeting people who feel on the outside, victimized, as they look for somewhere to belong.
The usage of exclusionary language, not acknowledging their experiences, only pushes people further into it. Any person can fall into it.

Actually, I would disagree. I think much of what has happened is multi layered. While I do agree with the point of cult like behavior, Lifton’s "Eight Criteria for Thought Reform" describes much of Trump’s method, it’s also important to look why it is effective.

It’s genuinely terrifying. Not in Texas—as someone who has only recently started the process for disability assistance—there is so much uncertainty impacting people across the political spectrum.
I hope cracks start to form within the base with these events. The promises don’t match the actions.

It’s something so frustrating, because the statistics of what children do to other children but then they say boys will be boys.
Kids are smarter than people give them credit. Me and my peers in high school caused the ousting the superintendent. If kids can do that, they can think for themselves.

That’s horrible.
Always been an atheist, but attended to the Christian club on campus. I told the pastor I went since who was I to deny learning different philosophies due to differences in thought since everyone has a lesson to teach. He told me that showed great humility.
Where is their humility?

Been looking back and studying my old writing and had the uncomfortable realization that my writing style and themes is like if Dazai Osamu, Anne Rice, Sylvia Plath, and Raymond Carver’s writing was put into a blender. Explains why my fluff romance ends up being really existential and psychological.

Thanks! Seeing people do this is amazing because the artifical distances social media has created makes things feel hopeless, so this is a reminder that’s not true.

I can’t take part in any protests, but still going to do my part by writing in to newspapers and blogs since that’s what I know well.

The boy watched videos, read e-copies of old books, and loved listening to reminiscences about the past, but in particular, he held a deep interest in "the most wicked usurper in all of history," Rudolf.
Because Yang Wen-li was in the Free Planets Alliance, Rudolf was naturally made out to be the very incarnation of evil, but in listening to what people said about him, the boy had begun to have his doubts. If Rudolf had really been such a villain, he wondered, then why had people supported him and given him power?
[…] He answered his son's inquiry in this way:
"Because the people wanted to have it easy."
"Have it easy?"
"Exactly. They didn't want to solve their own problems by their own effort. They were all waiting for some saint or superman to show up from somewhere and shoulder all their troubles by himself. And that's what Rudolf took advantage of. Listen. I want you to remember this; it's the ones who empower a dictator who deserve most of the blame. But the ones who don't support him actively— who watch it happening without saying anything-they're just as much to blame.

It’s funny to say, but this passage in chap 1 of Legend of the Galactic Heroes by Yoshiki Tanaka, space opera that is a political theory crash course I read as a teen, shaped how I see the rise of politicians like Trump. Besides populism, I think people wanted easy change without the work.

8. Easy Money by Ben Mckenzie and Jacob Silverman - Actually really interesting, explains cypto really well and helps explain part of the new social/political direction happening. Definitely one of my more fun reads.

Clearly my reading is all over the place right now but I’ve been learning a lot.

Books I’m reading right now, would be fun to compare with others
1. Legend of the Galactic Heroes: Dawn by Yoshiki Tanaka - Love it, rereading for 5th time, would recommend to anyone
2. House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski - As someone who writes sort of post modern, it’s an enlightening read

Sadly, it’s been really common. Administration made things harder for the publishing journalism class I was in at times… we weren’t their favorites.
I remember teachers seeing students waving confederate flags, in 2021 black history month, and afraid what would happen if they confiscated the flags.

Some really do think it’s effective but also don’t understand the difference between a country and a person—the “abuse is bad and doesn’t work” is another thing they ignore.

I think many would rather ignore it since they don’t know someone immediately impacted. It’s a large scale empathy problem.
