Yeah the books are certainly better. Alphabet Squad for example has lots of gay and queer characters who are done wonderfully with meaningful relationships. But I think Disney just knows the audience is so much smaller

but it feels like when it comes to inclusion Disney does go with shallow representation instead of anything meaningful. Eg they’ll throw gay aunts into everything but we’ve still never seen a gay relationship explored on screen except for in the acolyte. It will be mentioned or in the background.

I’m going to try to phrase this carefully, because I agree in principal but I have some different issues.

My problem with the character is that she’s a trans mascot - down to the real world flag colors - rather than a character. It’s fine because she’s just from a reference book or whatever…

For all Twitter’s shittiness it is a massive platform and you get a lot of genuinely interesting stuff there. Esp for sports, btw. It’s just that it’s finally hit a point where the shitty factor outweighs the good.
