British person here. We did that during WW2 rationing. We had to stash letters in other words in case of an emergency.

Final Draft and FadeIn have those options. I tend to follow the one from the Dramatists Guild, I think. Generally though, play formatting isn’t as strict as a screenplay. There’s no set font. I’ve seen Courier and Times New Roman being options.
