there was this 1 guy idk if we’re thinking of the same one but he basically said mario1 was this frictionless braindead game compared to castlevania 1 with “less” to take into account and it’s the result for how video games are made today and everyone in my friend group just couldnt believe our eyes

The idea that anything that gives you an advantage must be "good"—it's starting to feel a bit warped to me. Miyamoto: That's because their goal isn't to inhabit the character and enjoy the experience, it's just to beat the game. Itoi: I guess they just want to be able to say, "I won!"
