Is the way that LLMs are being deployed simply a reflection of the methodology of Tech Bosses at the highest level?

"Give an impression. It doesn't matter whether you do your job well or not, just produce what appears to be work, then cash out before the consequences come back to bite you!"

We don’t talk enough about how morally depraved the tech industry turned out to be. Every single ounce of their self-regarding statements of values was an outright lie.

Yup. I feel like the people who peddle it often make the most uninspired, middle-of-the-road, shit imaginable. Ditto music advice on youtube: "Just copy an arrangement from a song you like".

They commodify the art, commodify its creation and commodify the audience.

The House of Lords Digital & Communications Committee just published their report on AI, copyright & the creative industries, and their conclusions could not be clearer.

Yeah, there's loads of great ideas and I don't want to spray rain on anyone doing it with good intentions, but also... people need to say. Hopefully it will push DAW developers to make more these types of features native.

Yeah, for sure. A few days ago I actually started writing a little manifesto for unpoluted software environments after some bad experiences with Reaper scripts.

I think a lot of people who uncritically hype stuff aren't relying on their DAWs to earn a living so reliability is less important to them

Glad it's not just me noticing it or feeling this way. Having to second guess everything now because these things are just not worth having anywhere near your projects.

People flooding the market with vibecoded audio & others hyping them up without having even tested them seems to be becoming a common occurrence now...

First SnappySnap and now this Nest Acoustics thing.
Neither have a free trial & neither actually disclose anywhere that they are vibecoded.

Hey so it's time to start financially supporting independent media production otherwise there will basically be no more professional media production and what little that IS produced will be controlled by quisling goblins who protect pedophiles and blame trans people

Those IKEA desks that are a bargain and then soon enough they start bending and you realise they're made out of mulched cardboard and are totally not fit for purpose. That's vibe coded software.

Id especially appreciate reposts by people that are outside of my niche of experimental electronic music!
Game Sound Designers, Classical & Jazz Musicians, Rockbands, Djs, Field Recordists, Software Developers,...!

Why is it not against the terms of service to set up a 'curator' list with the express purpose of harassing developers? Maybe allowing a company run by libertarian goofballs to have perpetual monopoly power over PC gaming is a bad idea?

17.02.2026 10:00 πŸ‘ 20 πŸ” 4 πŸ’¬ 2 πŸ“Œ 0

my take on game industry finance is any analysis of dev time, dev cost, sale pricing etc. is pointless without acknowledging the role of big capital in systematically acquiring and extracting all of the wealth

itβ€˜s like giving someone diet and exercise advice while Dracula is actively killing them

I maintain that this is the moment a lot of folks realise that they can just do direct deals with porting houses and marketing teams.

Publishers got used to low risk thanks to platform deals and crowdfunding. They need to remember that β€˜absorbs risk’ is their primary non-replaceable role tout suite

If I had one suggestion to those just starting in sound design, it would be to stay curious. Interrogate the world and objects around you. See what they have to say.

I talk a lot about mastering, metadata, mixing, & more, but a sense of play is the best thing we could possibly have in our toolkit.
