A federal judge in DC rules that Kari Lake was not lawfully appointed and that actions she took as the claimed head of USAGM "shall have no force or effect," including last August's RIFs at the Voice of America.

This quote isnt just out of touch or disappointing, its fucking dark. Gay people are not a conversation parents need to have with their kids? Knowing gay people exist doesnt require therapy??

Any parents who thinks that way needs to have their kids removed ASAP. Get in a volcano, Pete.

I don’t think it’s supposed to be!

My doc and I are trying to find a dose that works for me without that side effect.

Right now, considering I’m down to a literal toddler dose, I’m not hopeful.

But we continue trying!

Thanks for the concern! ❀️

The angry part of Bluesky remembered KOSA (now under the Kids Internet and Digital Safety Act, or H.R. 7757) exists but rather yell at you I'll say:

If you have REALLY bad anxiety (like me!), you can call your reps after hours! Voicemail counts! The site 5Calls give you a script to read off of:

The way I look at it, if you preorder a book 8 months before its publication, when you get it it's basically free.

Went to an exhibit last weekend that included a bunch of character sheets and animation cells and promotional materials from Looney Tunes history and it was amazing.

As a friend of mine puts it, dogs believe they can eat anything, and they are technically correct: anything is edible…at least once. 😬

Losing an embassy is only a political disaster if it comes from the Benghazi region of Libya. Otherwise it’s just sparkling property renovations.

When men's workload is automated, it's genius; when women's workload is automated it's a character flaw and morally questionable.

…except they already took off everything actually unnecessary, and so are trying to convince us that @silver-chipmunk.bsky.social Discord is an unnecessary app taking up too much room.

All she uses are Discord, Teams, Zoom, Kindle, a faux!office app, and a browser. That seems pretty minimal!)

Appreciated!

(Basically, the laptop has sucked since the beginning, but has been getting worse, so we’re trying to deal with it. Best Buy, where she bought it, kicked us to HP because it’s under HP warranty. Fair! HP then spent hours trying to fix it, but the answer seems to be β€œit’s too full”

I think the person we spoke to (for hours last night & hours again today) tried all that.

We at least pushed enough that we’re being sent to the warranty department.

I basically just wanted to know if β€œsorry, the laptop we sold you in 2025 can’t run Discord” was as off as it sounded.

Thank you!!!

(That said, I can suggest to @silver-chipmunk.bsky.social that she use a different browser. I don’t think she’s particularly attached to Chrome.)

To be clear: they’re not saying not to have it on when not in use; they’re saying to delete the app because it’s taking up too much room. And the same with Discord.

(They keep referring to these two programsβ€”which along with Teams + Chrome are the only ones she usesβ€”as β€œunnecessary apps”!)

Dunno when the laptop was manufactured, but she bought it last summer. (Purchased in…June, I believe? Shipped in August; warranty good until this coming July.)

But according to a person who socialized with Platner when he was living in Washington, D.C., more than a decade ago, Platner had specifically acknowledged that the tattoo was a Totenkopf, the "death's head" symbol adopted by an infamous Nazi SS unit that guarded concentration camps in World War II.
"He said, 'Oh, this is my Totenkopf," the former acquaintance told Jewish Insider recently, speaking on the condition of anonymity to address a sensitive issue. "He said it in a cutesy little way."
The exchange occurred in 2012 at Tune Inn, a popular dive on Capitol Hill where Platner later worked as a bartender and was a frequent patron while he attended The George Washington University on the G.I. bill, according to the former acquaintance.
He would often take his shirt off drinking with friends late at night at the bar, and on at least one occasion had stated he knew what the tattoo represented, the former acquaintance recalled.
Platner gave varying accounts of the image during this time, saying at one point he was aware it was a Totenkopf when he had first gotten the tattoo several years prior and at another time claiming he had not known, according to the former acquaintance.

This would be the same bar where showed off his Nazi tattoo and called it a totenkopf?

(To be clear, it was a very inexpensive laptop, but still: aren’t apps like Discord kind of standard at this point? Like, I feel like this is only slightly more ridiculous than saying β€œwell, just don’t use Microsoft Office!” But I don’t know if my feeling about that is correct.)

I need opinions from folks who know more about tech stuff than I do.

@silver-chipmunk.bsky.social has a laptop that has not worked properly since she got it last summer.

It’s has been getting worse, so we called HP.

Their suggestion was to not use apps like Discord or Zoom.

Is this reasonable?
