What a result!! Huge congratulations to the amazing Hannah Spencer - everyone in Gorton and Denton has just made history. This result shows @greenparty.org.uk can win anywhere, that the politics of hope can win over the politics of hate & there is no longer any such thing as a Labour safe seat π
I am putting on an event this Saturday, to platform female and non-binary artists!

I'm very pleased to back this Green Party motion for Bristol's Full Council meeting next Tuesday 13th January 2026 entitled "A Universal Basic Income Trial for Bristol".
have a read of the motion and let me know what you think:

Evidence shows that less frequent black bin collections incentivise people to recycle more. Also that these changes gain public approval within 6 months.
The public have voted for more recycling, more action on the ecological crisis. But Labour stopped this from happening, again.
"Now that we've got this additional burden to meet, that should be shared amongst those who can afford to pay it, not on people who are already struggling." - PMUK's Ian Gregg speaking to BBC's Look North.

π We are all thrilled to welcome Cllr Al-Maghrabi into the Green Group!
π Al is a kind, compassionate and diligent councillor - we are lucky to have him with us.
π @bristolgreenparty.bsky.social now has half the councillors in Bristol!
π€ Welcome @alsayedpolitico.bsky.social!
Statement in solidarity with Jewish people after the terrible synagogue attack in Manchester from Green councillors: Cllr Abdul Malik, Cllr Tim Wye and Cllr Izzy Russell.
Poor research led to one of our Bristol Cllrβs, Abdul Malik, being wrongly slurred on BBC Radio 4βs Today Programme this morning with claims he said terrible things about Jewish people. Yesterday, Abdul and his fellow ward Councillors issued this statement about the terrible synagogue attack.
LANDMARK MOMENT - the Greens now have more members across Great Britain than the Lib Dems!
Let's keep it going!

How do we fix this mess?
I'm sure Steve Smith would feel the same if something fundamental to HIS personal identity was being mocked and at the centre of a years long culture war.
Fortunately for him, being white, male and a bit of a twit don't need to be protected characteristics.

Nigel Farage is the biggest charlatan in British political history.
And here's what his constitutents in Clacton really think:
A graphic showing 12 councillors and 10 key organisers from Bristol Green Party who are backing Zack Polanski's leadership bid. It includes the following statement: "Bristol has shown what Greens can achieve with ambition and vision. For us to break through nationally, we now need bold leadership that will reach people everywhere. Thatβs why weβre backing Zack Polanski for Green Party Leader."
We've been making steady steps forward in recent years, but now we need to take a huge stride. The political stage is set for a real alternative that challenges the elites and gives power to the people. We need to grab it with both hands with @zackpolanski.bsky.social as our next Green Party leader!
Congratulations to @is0belrussell.bsky.social for passing this motion opposing Bristol Airport expansion.
84% of people oppose expansion (although Bristol Labour abstained...); @bristolgreenparty.bsky.social stand against this pointless climate-wrecking.

The government wants to impose a system of local government EVERYWHERE.
But what of communities - like Sheffield & Bristol - that don't want this?
#democracy - it would be a good idea

Debunking some myths!
@is0belrussell.bsky.social: βLimiting airport expansion is not about penalising people who fly once or even twice a year. 63% of the new passenger traffic seen over the past two decades has been caused by frequent and even ultra frequent flyers.β
The Labour government are trying to make Palestine Action a proscribed terrorist group
We are all against genocide, no? Then we are all Palestine Action.
Labour yet again lashing out at anyone who disagrees with them

Tenants at Queen's Court are living in appalling conditions and frankly I've been shocked by the property management company's failure to do its basic duties. I won't let this drop - will keep fighting for residents.

weapons-grade morons
This morning @greenparty.org.uk has called for the EHRCβs harsh and ill-considered guidance on single-sex spaces to be withdrawn. As it stands the guidance puts trans people at risk of discrimination & violence, and clearly hasnβt been drawn up with trans peopleβs input. Iβll be pushing for better.
A big Green win! The govt has confirmed it will move ahead with a new Natural History GCSEβsomething weβve long fought for. Delighted to have helped secure this commitment. Now letβs make sure it truly equips young people to protect nature & tackle the climate crisis!
It's not antisemitic to oppose genocide.
You can help too!

The Government is planning to unveil more than Β£6 billion of welfare cuts that will see even people with extreme disabilities lose money.
None of this is necessary. Billions could be raised by taxing the super-rich fairly.
Labour are choosing to punish the most vulnerable.
