Where I'm from in the UK we call them "Bag Ostlers" because books were commonly sold to coach passengers at inns from a big sack kept near the stables.
'The home secretary plans to remove the current legal duty to guarantee support to those at risk of destitution awaiting an asylum decision.'
Fuck Labour. Fuck every Labour MP and Labour member who hasn't quit in disgust.
'Mahmood is expected to make the "Labour case" for restricting assistance...'
Pure fucking evil

Our policies already leave asylum seekers impoverished and vulnerable while their claims are processed with deliberate slowness and now Labour plan to take away the sense of security and certainty that successful refugee status provides.
Screenshot of headline from linked article: Major changes to asylum system set to come into force
Screenshot of text from linked article: Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood will announce that from Monday any asylum seeker successfully given refugee status in the UK will be offered only temporary protection. The move represents one of the most significant changes to the UK's asylum system for a generation and is likely to anger some on Labour's left wing. But these measures will come into force without a parliamentary vote as they simply change existing rules.
I fucking hate this government

I'm sure Starmer is right to trust the US will only use UK bases for "defensive" strikes and this won't result in the UK being complicit in yet more atrocities under his watch.

In answer to Bridgett's Face/Off 2 question: Tilda Swinton and Cate Blanchett
DAMN! I just sort of do stuff and then the universe conspires to have them all drop at once, which can be confusing. Please amplify!

Ahead of today's by-election, Labour sent out a leaflet appearing to be from a made up tactical voting organisation quoting made up numbers to sway voters away from the Greens
Labour thinking it preferable to lose to Reform than to the Greens says everything

There needs to be an early day motion or something tabled with the intention of legislating a review of all the tainted deals. MPs need to force the government to act because otherwise nothing will happen.

Genuine question: how much of this will be instantly lost to the Transitional Protection Payment for disabled people who were migrated from the higher amount of ESA to UC? Because the real-world reduction in disability benefits the migration has caused is significantly more than Β£400 a year.
But despite the Labour government enacting the ban to begin with, as well as all the other awful things they've done, you've continued to sit as a Labour MP so it's hard to believe you feel that strongly about it all.
A Starmer government isn't a Labour government yet you continue to legitimise it.

A couple of years ago I contacted your office to seek your help/advice with serious SEND and CAMHS failings and the response I got was that you weren't running surgeries at that time so you'll forgive me if I find your comments on the subject to be performative

So Starmer's chief of staff has stepped down due to his advice supporting the appointment of Mandelson as ambassador but Starmer apparently bears no responsibility for either agreeing with, or uncritically following, that advice? The same as when he quoted Enoch Powell's "Rivers of Blood" speech?

I can only play @powerwashsimulator.co.uk 2 when Wicket's asleep otherwise she becomes distraught looking for Ulysses and her kittens when they meow.
Are any MPs going to put forward a motion to have all contracts, deals, and legislation that Mandelson may have influenced reviewed and, if applicable, scrapped and re-done from scratch? If not, why not?
Hey, @labourlewis.bsky.social, can you pass on my thanks to Starmer about Labour's decision to delay the new rental laws so landlords can "prepare"? Without that act of grovelling cowardice I might not have got to enjoy this 11.5% rent increase from my landlord.
