Those countries tend to value community, whereas the US is ranked highest in individualistic thinking. We are capitalistic in nature, & public transportation would compete against oil & auto industries, who pay political leaders to support their goals & profits. At least, that is my understanding.
Because of oil and auto companies. I watched a short documentary about how other countries have high speed public transportation, such as in Europe and Japan, yet America doesn’t because they want to sell cars. Capitalism and profit over people’s basic needs, I guess?

I don’t think people understand what “banning phones from classrooms” mean. My school banned phones from classrooms too—students are strictly required to keep their cellphones in their backpacks. It’s helped SO MUCH in regards to behavior and engagement.
