Our government should represent us -- all of us. I'm running to ensure everyone is heard and everyone feels safe and respected.
That's why @teamlpac.bsky.social , @changetn.bsky.social , and @transequality.bsky.social support me.
Will you join us?

๐จ Endorsement Alert! ๐จ
I am proud to announce that Advocates for Trans Equality (A4TE) has endorsed me for Shelby County TN Commission, District 13!
As a trans person, I'm honored to be endorsed alongside other transgender, nonbinary, and allied candidates! Thanks, @transequality.bsky.social !
I'll never give up my commitment to mutual aid, to really hearing you, and to solutions by us, for us.
Because coming together like this in hope and joy is how we create a better future.
This is why @teamlpac.bsky.social and @changetn.bsky.social support me. Will you join us?

I'm so blessed to have an amazing crew who believe that we can win more, that we can turn this around, that #Memphis Is Magnificent!
When elected to the County Commission, I'll be your voice and your fighter, standing up for what's right and against robber barons and corruption.
That should read "2x" increase. The $0.67 fuel cost adjustment is 52% of the final price per ccf, which means it doubles the price.
This is just one innovative solution I have -- a homegrown, equitable solution not relying on billionaires -- for a big Shelby County problem. Ideas like these are why I've been endorsed by @teamlpac.bsky.social and @changetn.bsky.social .
A $13 donation can make these ideas reality!
If xAI is going to run gas turbines in our county, and if other large fixed polluters such as Valero are going to pump out the greenhouse gases that lead to these financial disasters, they can pay their fair share so we can use to bring your costs down.
I envision a plan where the county creates an extreme weather fund that pays MLGW at wholesale prices (i.e., offsetting their cost) in the event of extreme weather to lower that fuel cost adjustment and reduce bills. We can fuel this with a tax surcharge on polluters such as xAI.
What matters *now* is that as extreme weather increases, our citizens can't be crushed by utility rates. "Use less" isn't a viable option when it's below freezing for several days in houses not built for that weather.
The county can play a role here in helping out!
This is due to increased usage and a 52% increase in gas price from the allowed fuel cost adjustment.
Regulation of MLGW is a city matter, despite the fact that MLGW serves most Shelby County residents. Whether it should be a joint venture is a broader question.
My mother just received a $704 MLGW bill (MLGW is the #Memphis municipal utility provider.)
That's about a 400% increase over her usual bill and even in the coldest months, about a 250% increase.
She's on Social Security and has a fixed income. How is she supposed to afford this?

I don't take money from corporate or dark money PACs. And I don't take money from billionaires or donors to Marsha Blackburn.
If you want a real progressive fighter in office in #Memphis, endorsed by @teamlpac.bsky.social and @changetn.bsky.social -- please donate today. Even $13 helps!
We've got almost 100 donors from across the country putting in donations in my county commission race. This level of support in a municipal race in TN is pretty rare -- and I'd love to prove the haters wrong by making that number bigger.
My opposition has dark money PACs. I have all of you!
This is a really good point.
Health care is a perfect example of a place where the Free Market doesn't work. It violates basically all key assumptions of perfect competition, which means the market will fail. One of the biggest ones it violates is a technical one, which is around maximizing utility
So much for local control and home rule -- not that Sen. Johnson was a believer in that anyway.
This law was ridiculously, wildly unconstitutional, but nevertheless, it silenced local elected officials across the state.
Now that it's gone, which electeds and candidates will speak out against ICE and for protecting immigrants?
Me, yes, as I already was -- this law be damned -- but who else?
As for me, my campaign is rooted in afflicting the comfortable, comforting the afflicted, and holding the powerful accountable.
@teamlpac.bsky.social and @changetn.bsky.social support me because I stand up for equity, inclusivity, and bold solutions.
And against billionaires.

You can't say you're standing for families while accepting favors from the man who's choking families in South Memphis and Southaven for a machine that generates lies, CSAM, and abusive images of women.
Though apparently you can and the establishment will fundraise for you, calling that innovative.
Instead, the establishment here is afraid. In response, they're closing ranks and backing their friends over candidates who have the courage to speak out and actually change things. They're supporting candidates who claim to be for families but take money and donations from Elon Musk.
Where are our elected officials and candidates speaking out on this? The Memphis City Council voted to pass a non-binding resolution to denounce ICE.
But so far, other than me, no county commission candidate is calling out the harm being done to our communities.
It's good to have the data here, of course, but in #Memphis, we know this.
We know ICE is terrorizing our neighbors and our kids, and that undocumented immigrants are just the latest scapegoats of a group of bigots who enjoy the cruelty and pain they cause.

Today I joined with my comrades in the Memphis-Midsouth DSA and the Memphis Public Libraries Workers Union to push the Memphis City Council to get a referendum on civil service protections for them.
And MPL-WU won!
They didn't back down and I've got their back.
Union Strong! All Day Long!
And it will proceed to hallucinate, improperly process, and generally make a mess out of this, because it can. Not. Do. This.
We'll all end up paying the price from this nonsense.
I'll add this one to the stack of things to deal with when I'm elected to the county commission...
Ouch.
That's "there's no such thing as ethical consumption" taken to a darkly nihilistic place.
"Well, every company is evil," they sniffed, as they proceeded to gas up their 3 ton SUV while drinking Starbucks and turning on the "scan all faces" function on their Ring app...

No Flock contract gets my vote on the Shelby County Commission. Period. And I'll do everything in my power as a commissioner to block contracts with companies that collaborate with ICE and want to build a surveillance state that strips your, and your neighbors', civil rights.
Very few candidates are speaking to how the Memphis (Un)Safe Task Force, which is really code for ICE operations, is terrorizing our neighbors and traumatizing our children.
But I am, because fighting back against this evil is the right thing to do.
I've seen a couple of Flock cameras in #Memphis that were taken down.
I've also, while out knocking doors, seen many Ring cameras and doorbells disabled or outright removed from houses in some of the richest parts of the city.
People are angry at ICE. And they're angry at collaborators.
