60s hippy musicians and 80s electronic musicians seem to be the worst. (I think @daphnelawless.com’s theory is it’s about the drugs.) As a Gen Xer it’s more depressing when 90s musicians fall.

Oh, of course I’d forgotten about BMXs when I made that comment. There’s probably 1 million songs that mentioned them. (I had a Grifter.)

Thinking of some future categories though: songs which gave us genre names, and bands named after novels.

And at any rate “The Seed” mentions like 3? genres so you get a pass even if I’m right.

Does “Janie Jones” count because isn’t it a rock & roll song? But it does mention the Ford Cortina, suggesting the category we can do next: songs mentioning makes & models of cars.
