Feeling randomly attacked by this quote from my novel VANISHING MONUMENTS (which I highlighted years ago and someone liked on Goodreads today out of nowhere). A reminder I suppose that this novel exists, and is very good, and worth your attention.
happy birthday!
The best thing about having a dog that everyone loves is that everyone gets conditioned to be happy to see me.
a crime against humanity that I cannot play Sim Ant anymore
me soon, I hope
And yet I've never been good at it!
It's kind of crazy how much of life is dedicated to trying to convince someone to keep their body close to yours.
The bowling alley played Kid Rock and immediately followed up with βAmerican Idiot.β I feel like weβre trying a bit too hard to be bipartisan
Even better: write a book in which you (me) are the villain.
i was browsing a local bookstore's clearance shelf at 9pm when i noticed another trans girl next to me & couldn't help giving her recs (vox, housekeeping) before i noticed a copy of @jestintzi.bsky.social's bad houses & all but insisted she take it
Omg, this is very wholesome and good! Thank you Alice, for sharing (& for proselytizing!). One day she may even realize I also make comics (though I haven't been as prolific as I'd like to be in working on them and putting them out!)
When in doubt (about how much you are interested in being alive) the solution is often to just start writing another book out of nowhere.
Since everyone is sharing ""romantic"" art for Valentine's Day, here's a flash piece I published a decade or so ago, and which I still enjoy jestintzi.substack.com/p/the-many-l...

Black and white art of Snoopy dressed as Guts from Berserk, swinging a sword through a bunch of skeleton soldiers. Thereβs a white logo that says βSnoopy.β

Hard to find in print I think, but you can get an ebook from Tin House here! tinhouse.com/book/the-inc...
Pleased to report Martha Baillie's THE INCIDENT REPORT (2014) continues to absolutely slap, a 10/10 book, and hits harder now that I also work in a public library (and have met many Strange Fellows). Everyone should read it, it's an all-timer of almost strange fiction (which Martha does so well).
βWe must see now that the evils of racism, economic exploitation, and militarism are all tied together. And you canβt get rid of one without getting rid of the other.β βMartin Luther King Jr.
We will have to discuss finally coming down there and doing a thing!
haha, thank you! ;)
Not to toot my own horn but...it's a pretty good horn. You should really hear it toot.
Visited MY VOLCANO at my local library today. You should support your libraries in these wild times (and also read MY VOLCANO, which I have heard can be a comfort despite that it is very much a book about Wild Times)
Please, to announce that I have started the next one and it is certainly harder thanI expected.
I need to make it through the whole thing too, I always get caught up rereading his first few collections in there.
I finally finished one of the hardest today, though, and I am feeling SO FREE, and also very deludedly feeling OPTIMISTIC about the last (few, thankfully!) things left on the plate.
PAST JES, I HAVE BAD NEWS!
I am glad that I am a delusional novelist. I have been doing some major revisions to my new book, and before each I think "This will be a piece of cake" and then it ruins my life for WEEKS. The whole time it is ruining my life I'm thinking, "Well, at least the next will be easier."
_Partly_
This is partly a joke. But I am writing more poems, and they are leaning sad (as always). I am also reading/sharing some poems (mostly not by me!) on my Instagram lately, so you can follow me there to get some of that.
