So what's the purpose of nuclear?

CA had enough solar+batteries in 2025 to produce a constant 4 GW every minute of 90% of days in 2025 plus more power during other hours

4 GW=180% of the constant 2.2 GW DC nuc plant, which also ran 90% of '25

Solar+batteries much cheaper, faster, safer, cleaner

Thread expressing much better than I ever could exactly how I feel.
My wife told me tonight about Jimmy Carter's role in the Camp David Accords, and all we could do was shake our heads.

Now they're all sociopaths and would never consider future generations except to invoke them to grab more power.

He's a hair's breadth from extending his logic to say that only people who go to grammar schools (or the privileged equivalent) can have children, and only descendants of people who have been to grammer schools can ever go there because they're the only ones who will get the most out of it

The shift in the least few weeks from using "trust" to saying "belief" or "faith" is quite jarring.

Does it remove a degree of responsibility/accountability from the people who say they believe or have have faith in the administration, whilst admitting they can't actually be trusted?

This isn't said nearly enough - if you think being fair and sensible is expensive, just try adding up what willful idiocy and cruelty costs

Israel is bombarding, literally bombarding, two Middle East capitals, Beirut and Tehran, killing 100s of civilians, and yet the US and UK media continue to portray Iran as the threat to the region.

Israel has nukes, but Iran is the nuclear threat.

We live in Orwellian times.

The problem for the govt is it is the govt. The truth will out: savings won’t arrive, costs will. And then the electorate will be angry at the betrayal, and rightly so. All of this is grimly predictable yet here we are with the most senior people in politics playing a dangerous game of make believe

Anyone else having flashbacks to the Iraq War when we were (correctly) convinced there was no legal basis for invasion & a million of us marched through the streets of London to protest?

Who’d a thunk quarter of a century later they’d have a President who makes Dubya look like Neville Chamberlain?

Yes we can no we didn’t Those who cannot learn from past failures are condemned to repeat them (apologies to Santayana)

I've been fortunate enough to meet many formidably smart, fully committed, & thoroughly decent people who, for years, have strived to try to avert dangerous climate change.

They failed.

Saying that does not lessen my gratitude to them, 1/11

Today, I hosted the first meeting of a special panel on child safety online.

For decades, we have made the real world safer for children and we must do the same in the digital world.

The positive opportunities that technology offers cannot come at the cost of their safety, health or happiness.
