The feedback I’ve been giving to my dev friends is dust off all those old side projects and put AI on them. The time investment now is minimal and you never know what you’ve been mulling over but not doing due to time will work out.

Exclusives sell consoles, but MS has been really bad at exclusives for what the last 2 generations.
Gaming is just a small part of their business and it feels like they just don’t want to put the effort into consumer facing products/services.
Would be great, but private equity/big businesses buy up any sport that they can control. Bowling Alleys, Ice Rinks, Racket Ball Courts, etc.
They push out the leagues and price people out. In the US there is no benefit placed on sports, it’s seen as a waste of time/money when done recreationally.
Although I somewhat agree with you, I see users all the time swapping that software. Web based, desktop based and mobile versions of the same thing.
I personally use multiple IDE’s, writing tools, email clients, etc.

I’ve avoided large refactors, working on marketing material, product research, website copy, for so long but AI helps with this.
What AI doesn’t do is make me much more performant across the board, some tasks sure, others no.
Testing Claude Opus 4.6 for planning and Sonnet 4.6 for execution in a new feature that was a bit stuck on getting started. Legacy codebase, Razor/Asp.Net/C#.
Did much better than previous models, but still has issues with custom/non-standard logic. Good for broad brushes but falls apart on logic.
There is this trend in business where you always have to be positive.
Anything negative about a project, or item is taken as a personal attack on the people that worked on it. This makes it hard to give criticism and refine/adjust before launch.
Healthy debate is vital to any creative effort IMO.

This "Canada Curling Controversy" is the most I've ever been interested in curling in my life. I have now watched a dozcen YT videos on it and watched a match for the first time in my life.
I don't know why, but I recently saw a bunch of Space Above and Beyond stuff showing up on my YT feed. I miss that show so much. I still, to this day, routinely hum the theme song around the house.
#StarfleetAcademy will forever hold a special place in my heart for that DS9/Avery Brooks tribute episode.
As a huge DS9 nerd the show and actors on it seem so marginalized when compared to other Star Trek shows. It was nice to see a tribute from a place of love instead of an afterthought.

If people stop “buying early access/kickstarter MMOs” then there less and less chances there will be new ones. But the failure rate on them is very high.
Lots of cancelled MMO project form gaming studios, leaves us fans in a tough spot.
The thing I keep thinking about with the #MMO space with the death of Ashes, are there any successful PvP/Hardcore focused MMO’s out there? Seems like all the ones that are PvP first flop or outright fail.
The MMO base I think skews older, and people age out of that grind I guess, I sure have.
I don’t think #AshesOfCreation is or ever was a scam. But Steven is one of those auteur aholes that ran a promising project into the ground.
The Steam release was either for money or to try and legally cover a “release”.

Depends on the game. If it’s a heavily match made or multiplayer game CCU could be an indication of there not being people around for matching or in zones for events.
For some games MAU is a more worthwhile metric, but it’s harder for outsiders to track, so the default is CCU at least with Steam.
