Photo of wren. Description from ebird: βA medium-sized, uniformly-colored wren found in the upper subtropical and temperate zone of the Andes from western Venezuela to extreme northern Peru. Bright rufous-brown overall (brightest in the northern populations) with black lores and indistinct dark barring on wings and tail. Similar to Sharpeβs Wren, but brighter brown and typically found at higher elevations. Occurs from around 2,200-3,800m. Small parties forage in the understory of forest, often around bamboo thickets. Can be skulky and difficult to see well. Sometimes follows mixed-species flocks. Listen for the harsh chattering calls.β

One dark Double-crested Cormorant flying over blue water toward a rocky outcropping where several other cormorants are resting and preening.
You know you are an adult when your idea of a wild time is sitting on a rock and doing some light grooming. This Double-crested Cormorant is flying in hot to the absolute best hangout spot in the bay just to do absolutely nothing with its friends. Truly the dream! π

Between 1895 and 1899, CΓ©zanne painted numerous landscapes of the abandoned and overgrown quarry, known as BibΓ©mus, located east of Aix-en-Provence, France. The area's vibrant colors and rough, partially man-made topography suited the increasingly geometric style of the artist's later works. The frenetic brushstrokes and dynamic tonality create both the shimmering surface pattern and the striking illusion of depth, as the vista's stony terrain and lush vegetation give way to the cooler hues of a distant mountain range and the sky above. Areas of unpainted canvas call attention to the flatness of the painting's support, yet also give the impression of volume, as they articulate bare areas of ground and rock. The painting's nuanced optical effect captures the elusive spontaneity of vision while presaging the imminent emergence of abstract painting.

Pale blue striped flowers with mid-green foliage. The Lebanon squill is native to the mountains of Lebanon, Iraq, Iran and Syria. Flowering here in Yorkshire in peace. A poignant sight in these troubled times.
I planted loads of these beautiful little Puschkinia libanotica (Lebanon squill) in my own garden, but none have come up. Either they couldnβt cope with my heavy clay soil (probable) or the local wildlife ate them.
Never mind, at least there were plenty flowering at Harlow Carr today to enjoy. π
