Concentration camps are the defining issue in public health right now. Measles and TB outbreaks, healthcare being withheld as punishment for your race. It is not enough simply to turn the grants tap back on. To do so would make us the same as the Nazi scientists who discovered smoking causes cancer

There is no reforming DHS. There is no educating our way out of the white supremacy, criminality, and cruelty baked into DHS. Abolition of ICE, CBP, and the whole DHS is the only way to keep people safe.

at some point, someone needs to write something in lancet about how basic human rights principles and norms are being broken left and right with how ICE is going after and weaponizing health services
I’m kinda laughing to myself about how to email collaborators about this. “Hey can we push this deadline back again? My region is being occupied by violent federal forces, and I’m only a *naturalized* citizen, and it’s been impacting my sleep and executive function for some reason.”
I carry around my passport with me even though I know that doesn’t matter. I have a specific little bag for it, and I think about whether the way I reach for it would be interpreted as a threat.
