My biggest tip for AWP is to have several dozen extra copies of your manuscript to hand out to editors at their booths, just in case. However many you think you need, it's not enough.

Given stuff like the Boy Scouts thing yesterday, I'm always struck by how infinitely easier it was to explain trans people (2 seconds) to my kid than it is to explain the people in power who hate them.
