After a week in London can safely (dangerously?) say it’s the worst combination of density, remarkable sidewalk connectivity, and hostility toward pedestrians I’ve ever encountered. I’d feel safer in, say, Phoenix where at least impending death by car makes sense and I can adjust accordingly. 🚷🚗

It's wild how many conversations about housing in Chapel Hill, a town that would not exist but for UNC, boil down to whether UNC students should be able to live here and, if so, how they should be segregated from non-students.

lololol. Many are good. I appreciate the broken-windows-ing of leaves (leaves attract thieves!).

satirical image of Belichick holding a promotional sign at the corner of Franklin and Columbia Streets hawking coleslaw and hot wings
We considered some options for Bill Belichick if he loses his job. (this consideration involved photoshops)

I like how he looks at the path for a few seconds, like he’s telling himself “I can do this. I can run.” 🏃😂 😂 😂

Husband and I have joked about writing one of those relationship books for couples. Title: "Pivot to Intimacy."
I can now announce that Chapter 1 will be called "Warmth, Not Pain."
Inspired by a talk with our cat after I tried to get him to sit on a heating pad and he clawed the shit out of me.

. Like there was a discount on this stock photo so they decided to use it to save $8.

There are also board members who are just in it as a hobby or a social outlet. Which is great, if there weren't real costs to taxpayers.
I would encourage them to take up birding instead, or perhaps start an advocacy organization. They could call it something like the Local Reporter Reporter. 😀

When people are that thirsty to get on a volunteer advisory board, or keep others off of them, it might be time to ask if they are really fulfilling their intended purpose or are instead serving as a means to give a small number of unelected people outsized influence.

Also remembering that when I moved from HAB to PC, someone w/ town told me there was "horse trading" involved to get me on the PC.
What does that tell you about how fair and transparent the process is?
It still goes on. My team does it, the other team does it.

I was on the HAB, then the PC. Met some great people, had zero impact. But I got an up-close view of how nutty and dysfunctional our town can be and how much back room influence CHALT had.
The experience ultimately led me to help start TBB.
Something for the pro-boards side to keep in mind 😉
