I guess I haven't tried it? Seems bad, like hard to frame. One of my main things is having Ss drop tennis balls filled with different amounts of sand out a window and filming it from outside. Not sure where they would put the laptop.

Hi ho! Now that we are thankfully banning phones bell to bell in our high schools, what is the current best solution for video analysis? I would like to buy a set of cameras on tripods I think, any recommendations on good ones for this purpose? #iteachphysics #photography
I truly feel like not enough people have a strong understanding of the inanity of generative AI. I just don't get how people find it useful.
I need to talk to some people that actually understand Physics about AI. What can I do to make it less dumb about Physics? For example, see this chat I had with Gemini about brainstorming an assessment question on Newton's Second Law. docs.google.com/document/d/1... #iteachphysics
It's impossible to tell from basic electrostatic experiments whether (+) or (-) charges are moving. Historically I've allowed students to choose either one as long as they're consistent. Does the AP exam expect students to always answer as if (-) charges are moving? #iteachphysics #apphysics2
APP2 thermodynamics curriculum is weird: you learn specific heat, but not what happens when something freezes or boils. You have to "know" the 2nd law of thermodynamics, but there's nothing about heat engines or pumps. Obviously there's only so much time in the year #iteachphysics
To be fair the word "negligible" should really just be "neglectable" - like why, English
Some of my students aren't comfortable with compression when the air doesn't have a surface to speak of. I really think if you're following your kids it's "right" and I wanted to share a slightly different take we had
Well we're definitely not saying that! It's Fth(air) on cart. We talk about which way the fan is pushing and which way the air is pushing with frequent reference to the time a student threw a bowling ball at me while sitting in a rolly chair. (This is a @fnoschese.bsky.social conceptual sequence)
You call it Fn(air) huh? We've been adding a flavor Fth which is present when there's a fan, turbine, or rocket engine that's on. I find it useful to have students articulate that air can only ever exert a force if there's something like that pushing on it. (Until we need to add drag, anyway)
Many people think it will be "easier" not to do a real lesson but I think students actually prefer the structure of a normal day. This also applies to after disasters and other adverse events etc
Looks like #iteachphysics is still a decent way to find the pretty good ones huh?
