Oh man, you always were a step ahead. But in my defense, I just stopped working for the day and I can’t focus at all. If I’m watching news anymore I hope the fact that I thought of you counts!
@sanyaweathers
Community weenie, writer, easily amused. Interests: SFF books and shows, crochet, cats, beagles, doing one’s best even if one’s best kind of sucks. Trying to do something useful to Push Back Against Bullshit each day for 1461 days.

This is a riff on the famous edited picture of Stalin and Yezhov, after Yezhov had been edited out of the picture - with Trump’s face over that of Stalin.
@brokentoys.social I saw this and thought of you <3
Colorful Easter eggs with stickers.
Day 89 of PBAB. Bartered for these eggs instead of enriching a corporate farm, and got the dye kit from a neighbor who bought too many, and gave away a plant cutting in return. Local first!
Day 88 of PBAB. I did my spring gardening cleanup without shopping at Home Depot. My local hardware store carries mulch and I’m starting plants from seed this year. Don’t support businesses that supported this regime :D
A screenshot from the language learning app Duolingo, featuring a cat sitting on a toilet. The phrase being learned has nothing to do with the picture.
Please enjoy this screenshot of a cat using the toilet on Duolingo.
Day 82 of PBAB: I have not shopped at Target since they decided to comply in advance. I’ve also cut out Home Depot. Amazon has gotten my money once (they drove a lot of people out of business and I’m still searching for some alternatives). Point is, if we have the choice, we can make the choice.
Day 79 of PBAB. Scout night. Tonight we talked disaster preparedness (jellybeans awarded for good answers and teamwork). I pointed out the importance of _federal_ warning systems so we could prepare, and the kids as usual led the way by deciding that helping one another was part of any good plan.
Day 78 of PBAB. I wrote my regular letters to my representatives asking them to take the energy from the rallies last weekend and _lead_ is. Tell us where to go and what letters to write. Don’t just want for that energy to find its own outlet. LEAD.
Day 77 of PBAB. Today I deliberately worked on not being snarky or ironic. Considering that is my primary means of communication, it took a LOT of effort. But I know that my net impact on the world today was a good one - and in 2025 “I didn’t make things worse for anyone” counts for something.
Day 75 of PBAB. I went to my local rally, and having been to local rallies before, I assumed it would be 20 people with posters standing at an intersection. Instead, it was 1000 people with posters lining all sides of the intersection and stretching for a half mile.
We are not alone.
Meme that describes a fictional conversation between a person and their inner thought process: The person says "I don't get it, I thought I was doing a lot better than I was a few years ago...how does everything feel terrible now? The inner voice says "Boss, it's the fascism. You're completely gunked up with cortisol due to the fact that your entire daily life is now underscored with a haunting awareness of the rapid erosion of your rights, dignity, and all social safety nets, and you're also bearing witness to the most vulnerable people being persecuted. This creates a natural stress response, which means you're going to continue having memory problems and emotional imbalances." The person says "but I have a journal and I meditate!" The inner voice says "BOSS, THE FASCISM."
Tiny OSHA person is very smart!
If we were conquered and under hostile occupation, what would the government do differently? Would an occupation government that wanted to crush the United States as a vibrant, prosperous country with influence around the world do anything differently?
Day 69 and 70 of PBAB. Yesterday was my media break. Today I think I managed to talk a child out of the dangers of libertarianism by asking if his rugged individual ass was going to refuse to ride in the tax funded ambulance on the tax funded road if he hit himself with the axe he didn’t make.
Oppressed minorities scapegoated, violent rhetoric, concentration camps, people nabbed off the street, moves to annex neighboring countries, illegal power grabs... but please keep telling me how calling them Nazis is mean
Day 68 of PBAB. I didn’t have time to do anything that could save the world today. I cleaned my house and hugged my family and friends and went to a little boy’s birthday party. It was a good day.
A crochet square featuring a white daisy on a gray background
In other news, my vow to buy no #yarn in 2025 made it to…28 March. The Joanns situation means sales and I decided to try the Red Heart “all in one” flower square yarn. It works! If you go up three hook sizes and #crochet loosely.
Day 67 of PBAB. My go to apps right now are Finch and 5Calls. One’s for keeping my head together and my tasks done, and the other is for doing…more. I know everything feels impossible, but we are getting through it. That’s why I’m counting the days, to prove that to myself.
Day 66 of PBAB. My donations to @aclu.org have always offered excellent value for the money. This flyer is very useful information for visitors to DC: www.acludc.org/sites/defaul...
Day 65 of PBAB. Just a reminder to local people that this document from Maryland's AG outlines the rights of LGBTQ+ people in this state, and that you can and should ask any potential candidate for ANY elected office if they are committed to upholding the contents:
Day 64 of PBAB. I kept my shit together when I wanted to lose it, and met all of my obligations so my mental state didn’t impact other people. #celebrateeveryvictory
Days 62 and 63 of PBAB. I got the stuff to grow vegetables from seed, my own little victory garden…which will have to be on my deck because deer cannot yet climb the spiral staircase. The more we can fend for ourselves, the safer we are.
Day 61 of PBAB. Scouts. Blue and Gold. One of the many loathesome aspects of Project 2025 is the idea of co-opting Scouts and making it a Trump Youth org, because these assholes never had an original idea in their lives. The good news: this plan is doomed to fail. The kids are too smart for that.
Day 60 of PBAB. I went around complimenting people all day today. I know at the end of the day we all dress for ourselves and not for others, but I'm gonna go ahead and say that based on the reactions, people who did a little extra don't mind their efforts being appreciated.
I had a kid tell me two years later that I had changed his life and I was like, kid, that is way more responsibility than I want for fifteen minutes. ;)
Day 59 of PBAB. Volunteered as an interviewer at the high school for kids practicing for job. After awhile the counselors started sending me the neurodiverse kids, the special needs kids, the non binary and gender diverse kids…and honestly it was the finest compliment I’ve ever had.
Day 58 of PBAB. I donated a bunch of hardbacks in great condition to a book drop full of encyclopedias and cookbooks so there would be something worth having in there.
I get so excited when I take a picture of the craft project or animal in my lap and the other person across the world is doing the same :D
Day 57 of PBAB. I introduced more neighbors to the Buy Nothing concept - give locally of your abundance and avoid consumption under capitalism to the extent possible.
Day 56 of PBAB. I purged a bunch of unused craft supplies and put them into the hands of people I know are struggling with *gestures broadly* - neighbors supporting each other is the beginning of better things.
