Maybe it was Martha Plimpton who sued before she sold her house. www.nytimes.com/interactive/...
people with too much time and money on their hands...hiring lawyers to sue to prevent an apartment building being built on the corner, next to two apt buildings, across from more apt buildings, in a neighborhood full of apt buidlings. Building is currently a vacant, dilapidated doctors office.

PLG fun, from Facebook.

238 N 12th st, Williamsburg, Brooklyn
There's century old buildings near me with 500 people in them and 5 spaces out front. It's parking for 1% of the people who live there. It's been fine for 100 years. Just make it 0%, that's not a drastic change.
I went to Brooklyn's other, other Chinatown, Ave U, to get lunch today. Most of Brooklyn along the Q train south of Prospect Park is just blocks and blocks of low rise housing with abysmal zoning. 40 min to Union Square.
Make the ground floor with no exterior walls? How much longer is it gonna be non electric buses anyway?
Since the mayor is talking about decking over sunnyside yards, how about a much easier project over the williamsburg bridge plaza? Surely it could be a few thousand units, and simpler to accommodate buses during construction?
This story claims that my trombone, which I have been flying with for 35 years, is not allowed on board a plane. "Brass instruments must be in checked bags" I could see how a fact checker might be confused about instrument size, but trumpets? that makes no sense. www.nytimes.com/2026/03/02/t...
Kevin Jonas
eldest of a trio of musical brothers
The answer here is Kevin Jonas but I really did think it was Elvin Jones for a minute.
seems like the center, furthest from the subways, would be the least useful for development. So you get towers on the perimeter and parks in the middle or something like that.
Mamdani has convinced Trump he can eminent domain the west village.
the seven upper middle class people are gonna take apartments in a gentrifying neighborhood and the older residents are gonna say βgo back to where you came fromβ
Exclusive: BBC Radio 3 has ended its relationship with Norman Lebrecht following an email to Yuja Wang the pianist described on Instagram as "derogatory misogynistic bullying."
Historic neighborhoods with iron preservation mandates don't stop change. They accelerate change. Historic preservation turns units for renters into mansions for billionaires

Iβll be at Ibeam tonight, Feb 26, for a short set at 7pm followed by an amazing collection of other musicians. Jacob Garchik, tuba / Justin Mullens, horn / Matt Glassmeyer, reedless saxophone www.ibeambrooklyn.com/home/2026/2/...
We don't have to read anything he writes about classical music because according to him classical music was murdered in 1997.
Cooking gringo tacos so I'm listening to Banda de los Muertos and thinking about this @jacobgarchik.bsky.social post:

It would be great to have a museum to learn the history of the african burial ground at church and bedford. De blasio wanted to make it housing. But meanwhile itβs an empty lot with unshoveled sidewalks in the route of thousands of school kids.
Shovel before bed? Or why bother?
Yup
I agree but will just add a complicating factor which is there were actual Rothschilds involved. But yes your point stands. www.lemonde.fr/en/internati...
Has anyone written an urbanist analysis of the housing of "Wonder Man"? Simon lives in a garden courtyard apt (or is it a dingbat?), Trevor lives in a posh doorman building, and Joey Pants lives in a Malibu beach house (did it burn down after filming)?
Look Park Slope can turn a mansion into a bunch of $2m condos with internal staircases, why can't Ditmas Park? www.brownstoner.com/real-estate-...
did they hand out laptops for the last remote day?
BK elementary school has been emailing us about picking up laptops since yesterday - they know it's gonna be remote and that's their way of prepping parents.
I got a new (vintage) receiver and family is out of town and I am blasting Rite of Spring on vinyl to determine whether I like Bernstein or Boulez better. Boy that 1958 Nyphil with Bernstein is really something.
