ugh. horrible and not even uncommon, I know several people doing the same. so many solvable problems we just allow to continue on.

yes, I'm glad we continue to prioritize everyone's god given right to not hear children existing in their city π
A little story about the state of childcare in our city because Iβm bitter we once again did not get a spot π₯²
the odds were not in our favour, all spots sold out π«
Childcare registration in Vancouver - 10am on a weekday, in person only. Already over 30 minutes in, still many people ahead. May the odds be ever in your favour, I guess?
Screenshot of Lenny Zhou's WeChat account
Doesn't look like Lenny's apologized yet for posting the video that started all of this, or made any attempt to publicly retract the claims. Just did a dirty delete and ran
This delay is particularly brutal - the motion was a response to AgustΓn BeltrΓ‘n being killed on his bike. Multiple family members spoke in favour, and Council passed this unanimously. Now 3.5 years later the city has upgraded outrageously few vehicles and recommends discontinuing altogether.
itβs wild. iβve never seen one before, have I been living under a rock?? the other people in the car with me were completely unfazed
so what do we think about moving digital screen ads on top of cars???
There's a dismissive contemptuousness in Sim's answers to the media that would fit right in with the administration down south.
We have to firmly reject this in Vancouver.

Worth noting that on a different website, multiple ABC Vancouver officials follow accounts that post constantly about how Sean Orr is a terrible human being and make all sorts of unproven claims, including one account that creates AI videos of Orr doing all sorts of illegal or evil acts
visiting home and the intersection that I scurried across every day as a kid is now a 4 way stop with painted crosswalks π₯Ή is it perfect? no, itβs still philly but such a huge improvement
(clarifying context for non-vancouverites, whatβs being said in this video is a blatant lie)

We tried to speak with Sim after a public hearing ended at city hall, but Sim and Zhou quickly left through the back private door with Simβs chief of staff.
Iβll continue to let you know when we hear back.
this is actually very much not ok
Another excellent video from Nic!
idk i think it needs more study
it's been 2 months since council's long overdue motion passed directing city staff to start posting updates elsewhere. I honestly don't understand, couldn't they have started the next day? what is the hold up?
yes she did signal
Rhiannon Fox was on her way home from meeting with city officials about how to reduce danger from cars on Friday when she was hit by a car.
is it attractive? no
is it cheap? also no
is it sturdy? alas, again, no
can it carry a lot? still no
is it safe? lol not at all
is it funding Nazis? actually, yes
It happens to 50,000 people in the lower mainland every year, and on Friday it happened to @rhifaux.bsky.social. Was it an accident? We think this was the predictable result of government inaction.
thanks, for clarity I am not the one who was hit! in this case it was my friend and VZV co-conspirator @rhifaux.bsky.social
Is it ironic to have a vision zero member hit by a driver coming from a road safety meeting? yes.
Is this the first time it's happened to us? no.
Will this be the last time? probably not.
Is there anything we can do? yes actually we know how to fix it but it's not a government priority
Our longtime volunteer @rhifaux.bsky.social was hit by a driver yesterday on the way home from a road safety workshop at city hall. She is home from the hospital and recovering with a broken wrist. We're grateful it wasn't worse, and outraged it happened at all. More to say soon.
oh wow thank you for enlightening me
The more speeding tickets a super speeder gets, the more likely they are to have received them behind the wheel of a luxury vehicle: 52% of the top 100 super speeders drive luxury vehicles.
For many years, this spot in DT Vancouver was home to a modular social housing project.
Revolting to see how the City under Mayor Sim demolished that program and destroyed peopleβs homes forβ¦ thisβ¦ this massive empty home for private cars.
unfortunately there is a significant portion of our population who I do believe think dogs have more rights than children
