Yeeesss it's one of the best of the series
(Beartato and Reginald, in a museum, gaze upon the Mona Lisa) BEARTATO: There it is. The Mona Lisa. The most famous painting in history. REGINALD: Wow! What's it do? BEARTATO: It... what? REGINALD: Why's it famous? What's it do? (Beartato thinks.) BEARTATO: I don't know. REGINALD (to nearly museum employee): Excuse me! Sir? What's it do? EMPLOYEE: You're the first person to ask! Watch this! (The employee yanks a pull-string. Mona Lisa's eyes spin around and her mouth opens like a puppet) MONA LISA: Honk honk! Honk honk! (Everyone is delighted. This is true art.)
True Art
And we love her for it
Liar, you're Mr. Big Shot Hollywood Producer over there!!! I know Rita's actually a pedigree dog!!!
seconding number 2 with something I've been very candid about:
I wouldn't be able to do Jellybox if my wife didn't have a full time job (with insurance) to support us both and if I didn't pick up part time work
not every indie pursuit becomes a full paying job, and if it does its not overnight
The good rule of thumb to remember is; what is the average/minimum cost of living where your company is located? how many people are you hiring? multiply those two numbers and you have a *bare minimum* budget of what it costs to hire a full time staff. where is that money coming from?
God this run is SO good
Hey did you know I was once an animator youtu.be/BT6xNOYRnXw
(AHH MY DEADNAME GET IT AWAY)
I admittedly do miss the camaraderie of Reanimate projects (especially Animate-a-Grump) but I simply cannot invest that amount of time into something unpaid if it's not purely mine.
Me writing a whole thread about working in animation as if I still worked in animation lmao (my last job was over 2 years ago)
We love what we do in animation, but we also love being able to pay our bills by doing what we love. Going indie is not an option unless you already have EVERYTHING set up beforehand. Which animation does not pay us enough to do.
"Get in contact with (indie studio) to make it!"
I shouldn't have to explain to you why that's not how it works.
And making your own work by yourself will take even LONGER. And who's going to pay you for what you make? YouTube? That's a joke.
"Why don't you just make your own stuff without a company?"
Because animation takes a lot of work even with a team. If you make your own stuff and you have a team, you have to pay them. Where's that money coming from if you're not working?
I need everyone whose response to yesterday's animation news was "Just go indie!" to understand two things.
1.) "Work For Hire" means the company owns what you've created. You have no rights to it unless explicitly stated in the contract.
2.) Going indie does not pay the bills.

31 years ago today, Krusty the Clown first mentioned saying βthe quiet part loud,β an expression which has since gone on to widespread usage.
#TheSimpsons episode βA Star is Burnsβ first aired March 5, 1995.
βChikn Nuggitβ creator Kyra Kupetsky announces her departure from the show after BuzzFeed made a requirement to feed the show to AI.
βI am very anti-Al and cannot support this. Thus I am leaving to boycott this. I am so upset it's come to this and I cannot apologize enough for this happening.β
Just in case this post gets deleted by big corp.
