OK so then I don't think I understand what you mean by a 'community platform'. But that's normal: if we all had a clearly understood & agreed idea of what we wanted it would exist by now.
There are a bunch of open source chat servers, like RocketChat and Zulip, do none of them fit the bill? Extinction Rebellion use(d?) Mattermost.
Yeah, just makes you think of 'perineum' doesn't it?
I know of him thanks to a footnote in the Reduced Shakespeare Company's script for Romeo and Juliet which said the line "Oh wilt thou leave me so unsatisfied" suggested a bawdy cameo by Wilt Chamberlain. So I would say as a British person you're pretty high-performing here.
He's not the Messiah but he is the least naughty boy.
In case you were thinking there are no good developments in tech anymore, 2026 is the year we should finally get that trombone emoji!
Just unfollow anyone forwarding unverified nonsense. Basic information hygiene: you got to keep the shit out of what you consume.
Leah is a hero! Always a pleasure to work with her on the kidical masses & other rides.
Just heard my first blackcap song of the year!
(It was coming from a hedge in Osbaldwick)
Cannot abide Abba or Queen. Came up with lots of rationalisation like oh it's the overproduced 70s aesthetic but in the end I think it was cos my parents played them on long car journeys and I got carsick. So it was like Clockwork Orange style aversion therapy.
Pendle Hill in Lancashire derives from Celtic, Saxon & English to mean "Hill Hill Hill".
And the same for bakeries so people just wanting a sausage roll or muffin don't have to wait for coffee drinkers to get their milk frothed or whatever else it is they spend so damn long faffing with. Bring a damn flask, don't waste our time with your caffeine addiction.
A selfie taken at a civic reception following Jonathan's investiture as Sheriff of York in 2016. The shoulders and heads of three men are visible: Jonathan, a grey haired man in rimless glasses, is on the left, beaming, wearing his chains of office. To his left is Andy Chase, a a somewhat younger bearded man with longish dark hair and to his left is me, Richard. We are all wearing suits.
Sad to report the passing of my friend (& one-time boss) Jonathan Tyler, former Sheriff of York, chair of the Ecology party (forerunner of the Green Party, which he helped create), lifelong railwayman & tireless campaigner on so many fronts. An inspirational man who contributed so much. Rest well.
"Corporations have neither bodies to be punished nor souls to condemn, therefore they do as they like" - attributed to an 18th century politician quoted in 1844.
I wonder if we'll suddenly see Labour getting around to looking at proportional representation now.
"Taken together, parties explicitly committed to tackling the climate crisis secured roughly twice as many votes as those positioning themselves around climate scepticism and rollback."

Don't suppose anyone on here is a member of Enterprise Car Club and wants to say they recommended it to me for a reward?
2020 Keir Starmer should stand against 2026 Keir Starmer like that bit in Superman 3 where Clark Kent has to beat up bad Superman.
Feeling this morning like the human experience has always been widespread misery caused by bad men with big egos & lots of weapons, & widespread joy from things like young ppl falling in love, small wins of good people over bad ones & my neighbours' kid riding her bike to school for the first time.
Aw yess, *then* they'd give you room!
Wow Walt mate, I wasn't expecting anyone to do any research specially! Bless you. And you know what, in the score shown in that video there's a quadruplet mark over the quavers which I think is just plain missing in my copy! Case closed I think - thanks!
A large bunch of violets (which smell great) flowering in dappled sunshine. There's some lawn grass visible around them.
I know it's the wrong flower but here are some violets in our garden for you all. They smell great. Dydd GwΕ·l Dewi Sant hapus all.
Damnit... I meant Debussy! I got it right in the alt text. What must you all think of me.
Damn that got a stupid amount of whitespace added
How long did you have to sit with your arm like that to get them to come and take the seed? I only ever managed it once with a particularly tame robin.
Bar 33 of Debussy's Claire de Lune circled on part of a page.
Hey anyone know what this is about, a 7/8 bar suddenly in the middle of this 9/8 piece, is that what Chopin intended or are those quavers in beats 2 & 3 missing dots or a quadruplet mark, and it's the semiquavers that are steady?
National grid said that wind was the biggest generator in 2025 (by about 3%) but that was for GB - I wonder if NI pulled it back for gas for the UK as a whole? NI on about 35% wind, 44% gas.
Well they've not even finished registering yet. Elon's cheque is probably still in the post.
Fortunately for us, Lowe has come along to split the right just in time.
