Black and white photo of Marjane Satrapi with the quote:

"The world is not divided between East and West. You are American. I am Iranian, we don't know each other, but we talk and we understand each other perfectly. The difference between you and your government is much bigger than the difference between you and me. And the difference between me and my government is much bigger than the difference between me and you.

And our governments are very much the same."

Once again.

There is a glitch on The Guardian app, whereby you cannot play the Quick Crossword and Mini Crossword but only on a Sunday. Is this some sort of pact with God?

As a professional military strategist, I just wanted to make sure everyone has a full understanding of the American strategy in Iran, thank you for your attention to this matter

Oof. That’s all of Lord of the Flies watched. Beautiful beautiful beautiful. I mean, obviously it’s terrifying but the acting, cinematography, storytelling… Exquisite. Painful. Brilliant.

Avoided watching BBC’s Lord of the Flies at first because couldn’t face the brutality. But after 2 episodes β€” how amazing is this production? Moments of stillness and slowness, reflecting the emptiness of the boys’ situation. The complexity of fear, innocence and bravado. A brilliant interpretation

Julia Donaldson was mean to my son when he was three years old, so I am not at all interested in any new Gruffalo characters I’m afraid.

β€œMost men are deprived,” said a friend.

She paused.

β€œNot deprived β€” depraved.”

Rewatching Schitt’s Creek in memory of Catherine O’Hara (that show got me through Covid) and there is no spreadsheet big enough to mark all the brilliant one-liners delivered by Moira Rose.

I need at least 3 more folk to sign up for my Edinburgh Adult Education Programme archaeology classes at Craigentinny, or the course will be cancelled. If you know anyone who might be interested, please let them know. Thank you!

I watched Train Dreams on Netflix last night and it is firmly embedded under my skin now.

It keeps coming back to me. Such beautiful storytelling and exquisite cinematography. A story of love and grief that is powerful but gentle.

No, Grok hasn’t paywalled its deepfake image feature X’s sexual deepfake machine is still running, despite Grok saying otherwise.

In case you've seen the story about β€œgrok now only generates images for paid users”, it's untrue. Apparently everyone just reported it because… it was what grok told them 🀦🏼

How did I miss that?! It didn’t seem enormously relevant when he mentioned it last night β€” he was talking about his suspicions of Jade so, unless she’s actually dead, I’m not sure his ghost hunting will help him πŸ˜‚
