On a (semi?) positive note- I got my official 15 year service award today. Hope the VA (and me) are here for a few moreβ¦ π¬
I love this brief primer on caring for older adults with mental illness!
1. Honor the Uniqueness of Every Older Adult
2. Do Not Change More Than One Variable at a Time
3. Start Low, Go Slow, But Do Not Stop

π’ Include #Disability in #MedEd! π’
Over 1 billion people worldwide live with a disability.
Medical education lacks training on #InclusiveHealthcare. This gap leads to misunderstandings, inaccessible healthcare, and poorer health outcomes.

The people I work with at the VA are there because they believe in the mission of the VA- patient care, research, and education. All in a system that doesnβt bankrupt its patients. Weβre not going anywhere πͺπΌπͺπΌ
Thank you, @unmcpsychiatry.bsky.social π. We are working together to advance clinical education in the service of Veterans!
Just attended an amazing talk by @drjessigold.bsky.social at the University of Cincinnati Psychiatry Grand Rounds! I really appreciated her honesty, vulnerability and practicality!
#MedSky #PsychSky Highly recommend checking out her book or considering inviting her to speak!
@kazjnelson.bsky.social www.nytimes.com/2025/01/22/u.... This will certainly make being a social worker at the VA a bit harder

I think itβs safe to say Iβm not getting through these Tik Tok notifications today. Very sad to see this app go, not only because itβs my biggest platform but also as a consumer of the incredible content there. RIP to the best algo out there.
I am sad too
Tiktok just closed 9:33pm central time.
You had awesome posts.
Pouring one out for TikTok. There are a lot of people, including queer and trans people, whose lives will be wrecked by the decision to ban it. It will also significantly reduce the ability of young queer people to see positive representations of themselves.
Itβs a sad day for many.
It is heartbreaking to see all of the posts about the #lawildfire.
We know that natural disasters can have short term and long term mental health consequences.

Thank you, Dr. Cheryl Wills, for a great visit to Omaha and for sharing your expertise at the University of Nebraska Medical Center Department of Psychiatry Grand Rounds. You have had such a positive impact through your advocacy work and leadership. It's a privilege to learn from you!
Graphic showing the number of campuses making changes when legislative mandates were signed into law; tabled, failed to pass, or vetoed; introduced; or when there was no bill. 127, 50, 24, and 12, respectively
At the University of Florida, administrators eliminated all DEI-related roles, closing the Office of the Chief Diversity Officer and firing 13 full-time employees. The university also closed its Center for Inclusion and Multicultural Engagement and reallocated $5 million originally intended to further campus diversity and inclusion.
The Chronicle of Higher Ed has been tracking changes to DEI. Over 80 colleges have made changes (such as eliminating diversity statements or offices/roles) without any legal requirement to do so. The University of Florida reallocated $5 million away from DEI. None of this bodes well.
