Note to feckless House Republicans: Regardless of what Elon Musk thinks, Trumpโs so-called โmandateโ did NOT justify slashing $190 million for ๐ฐ๐ต๐ถ๐น๐ฑ ๐ฐ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฐ๐ฒ๐ฟ ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฐ๐ต from the government funding bill.
Restore the funding, you heartless bastards!
Steve Bartlett as a case study in how misinformation is popular & lucrative- clickbait -> more listeners -> more advertising revenue. Itโs a sound business model if you donโt care about evidence or data.

We are asking Ukrainians to defeat the armies of Putin and Kim Jong Un. In their efforts to do so, Ukrainians helped bring down Assad. Ukrainian resistance is one of the most stunning military achievements in modern history.
Bernie Sanders: "We are moving rapidly into an oligarchic form of society. Never before in American history have so few people had so much wealth and so much power."

Third of Yorkshire Water customer bill cash goes on debt & dividend
Similar with other water companies.
Money borrowed to pay dividends, investment neglected, sewage dumped, customers fleeced; aapproved by OFWAT.
Must end the farce. Nationalise without compensation.

High interest rates are not helping. They were too high for too long anyway but the (possibly temporary) impact on sentiment from the budget is making them seem even more unsuitable for current conditions.
Are we surprised?
In the old days, fizzy drinks came in glass bottles which could be returned for reuse at most shops for welcome pennies.
The wanton waste of resources has to stop #PlasticBottles #GlassBottles
We need an effective #DepositReturnScheme system and a shift in practice by sellers.
The wonders of private healthcare.
โHow will an ambulance get through?โ
A question only asked of those trying to save our planet, not millionaire landowners trying to hoard wealth.
Farmers received record support in the budget. Pay what is still less than your fair share, take your tractors and piss off.
I suppose there is always sun/wind/tide somewhere.
Can an โInternet of energyโ combined with small-scale storage and energy demand smoothing work?
I have an amateur enthusiasm for the idea!
I donโt really know.
Flow batteries are an interesting technology.
The proliferation of home solar installations with batteries will provide some demand smoothing.
But for seasonal rather than daily fluctuations maybe long-distance transfers could work?
Donโt restrict the sources to just Europe. There are proposals to bring renewable electricity to the UK from North Africa.
Iโm just commenting as an interested citizen- no particular industry knowledge
The problem is not the EU but rather the last Govโt negotiated the first trade deal in history which actually involved walling the country off from a trading bloc made up of its nearest neighbours - making it harder both to sell your stuff & buy their stuff. Some might call that economic lunacy
Good boi.

It is always someone else's fault. Always.
Morning.
UK Govt is unleashing finance industry for economic growth.
History:
2007-08 crash, Govt provided ยฃ133bn cash + ยฃ1,029bn guarantees for bailouts, ยฃ895bn QE.
Mid-1970s banking crash. Govt negotiated loan with IMF.
What next? How much finance does the UK need?
leftfootforward.org/2024/12/the-...
Agreed. It seems likely that we wonโt need nuclear. Instead we will have a combination of renewables, storage and long-distance electricity transmission.
THIS is my Sentiment
Vaccinated and still alive.
Anyone else?
World GDP is $105 trillion.
Value of derivatives (clever bets on price of food, everything) is $667 trillion.
It hikes prices, enriches few speculators, produces nothing of value to society.
UK Govt thinks finance industry will deliver prosperity. Madness.

Someone needs his diaper changed.
After I got my doctorate in health admin, I could have taken a cushy job atop a corporate health firm & gotten rich off denying claims, but instead, I chose a low-paying civil service job to help care for Veterans & the Military. So don't give me that "he was only doing his job" crap.
Thames Water customers risk paying ยฃ263 a year extra to rescue firm.
Serial offender, dumped sewage for decades, neglected investment, borrowed to pay dividends.
Now wants customers to bail it out. They will own nothing.
Let it go bust. Nationalise at nominal cost
