I confess the main reason I'm here is that there are more people than Mastodon. I am also there, though, and kind of prefer it because I am a big open source / anti-corporate fan. I rather like Lemmy too (Reddit alternative) but again, much smaller user base.
Honestly if I have a flat tire and someone stops to help me and explains how to do it I'm going to be so grateful I'll want to hug them, regardless of their gender. I do know how to change a tire, and have done it, but it's not at all in my primary skill set so I'd just be happy to have the help.
