I'm thinking about it!
The wildest thing about early X-Files for me is that Gillian Anderson still looks that good
22 panels that never work by James Turner, including "Biting a weasel", "Standing on a dolphin" and "I hid the jam."
Pay attention, aspiring cartoonists
This is one of my most popular comic-making tips on twt, so I'll bring it to bsky!
⭐ When drawing comics, only 1-2 panels on a page need to be VERY GOOD.
⭐ The other panels are just there to lead the readers to each VERY GOOD panel and then to the page turn.
TEXAS KID, MY BROTHER
A graphic novel
A comic artist is haunted by the sprung-to-life embodiment of his much more successful cartoonist father’s world-famous creation.
Written & Drawn by legendary artist Igor Kordej
So TL;DR: Yep, that's what it is! But I don't think these niche categories that we come up w to market things are always helpful for folks that aren't already fans of that kind of thing
Publishing is sometimes be SO inside baseball that the categories they come up w don't make sense out of context—or even IN context, if that makes sense? To me, as the designer, "dark academia" isn't as useful as someone saying "it's an occult murder book set at a school and should feel kinda dark"
It's literally just shorthand for like... "school for wizards but make it goth and also murder"
Publishing loves to come up w fake, overly specific genres. (Thinking of the "Teen Paranormal Romance" section that sprung up at B&N at the height of Twilight)
My question every time an editor describes a book this way in the cover brief
memories are short. reminder of this crushing statement from (one) woman:
"I dropped my dream of being a comic artist shortly after and fell into a depression while I tried to figure out how I could have my future still be art related. I’ve hardly read a comic since.”

Josh, are these supposed to be nonfiction (IE: a tale of someone's actual PC dying in an actual TTRPG) or fiction?
I've been getting back into comics while I wait for more info from my concept job, and I thought I'd make a post about something very important to me, which is COMIC PANEL VARIATION and HOW TO THINK ABOUT IT.
Super curious about what it means that Terry Moore is moving to Dark Horse!! Strangers in Paradise was super important to me in high school (and honestly was so hugely influential to my development as a cartoonist). He's been a self-pubbed guy for so long

Respect to all the crafts people and artists nitpicking generative AI for its various visual continuity errors. But imo this is entirely the wrong way to critique AI. The goal isnt to point out its inaccuracies or lack of realism. The goal is to delegitimize the method entirely
Someone has sure already made this observation but the fact they can convert all those empty warehouses into prison camps means they could have converted them into housing, community centers, job training centers or, hell, libraries or schools all along. It’s always a matter of will not resources.
We've still got a few crit slots open for Thursday!!
Very excited to finally share my new book is now up for pre-order! It's for ages 6-10. Part comics how-to book, part silly joyful narrative, this book has it all for the young cartoonists in your life! Pre-order today!

This is coming up on Thursday!
Pillion had a lot of potential, but I don't really think it hit the mark. It's messy, and kind of just about an abusive relationship that happens to be BDSM-y to be edgy, and doesn't actually seem interested in depicting BDSM. The more I think about it, the less I like it. Beautifully acted though!
Literally 100% human to the degree that the BUSHES were human
