FERC to Eversource X-178 Gadfly: Get Lost theloosefish.substack.com/p/more-bad-news-about-x-178
Paring back ratepayer-funded energy efficiency in Massachusetts by 25 percent can't be good news for New Hampshire as we gear up for presenting a new triennial plan for NHSaves to the NHPUC in July. commonwealthbeacon.org/energy/house...
The most charitable interpretation of Platner still leaves us with someone plainly unfit for any elected office, much less the Senate. I don't think it's hyperbolic to say there are risks in putting into high office a person who keeps saying "whoops, another neo-Nazi association, I'm such a dummy."
Today i celebrate ten years as New Hampshire’s Consumer Advocate. Here is some of what is bouncing around in my brain as I celebrate the occasion. open.substack.com/pub/theloose...

Thank you @goodlander.house.gov for speaking out about Eversource, its ridiculously high rates in New Hampshire, and the PUC's aquiescence. open.substack.com/pub/theloose...
Yesterday was bad news for residential ratepayers thanks to the New Hampshire PUC. My latest blog post explains. theloosefish.substack.com/p/the-plot-t...
So: The NH PUC just issued a two-sentence order dismissing our rehearing motion as "moot." You be the judge. The journey across town in Concord can be a drag but I do know how to find the New Hampshire Supreme Court.
We are not rolling over and playing dead in the wake of the NHPUC's profoundly misguided resolution of last year's Eversource rate case. In fact the PUC's order issued on 12/31/26 raises a raft of new issues that must be fixed. www.oca.nh.gov/news-and-media/not-done-deal-yet
No comment. Absolutely no comment whatsoever. www.nhpr.org/nh-news/2026...
But almost everyone and everything is hedged, so very little power is actually changing hands at those weird prices. Watch your app on Monday morning -- you might see some red given the cold temperatures and the possibility of generators or xmission lines going down.
Lots of solar power on the grid right now and demand is below forecast, though only slightly. I think too that this is a symptom of NECEC going on line -- note that imports from HQ are the marginal resource right now.
Call me Ishmael.
My column is back and here, in my blog, I explain how and why and what. theloosefish.substack.com/p/metamorpho...
Yes the New Hampshire Constitution applies to the Public Utilities Commission and to Eversource. theloosefish.substack.com/p/read-my-lips
Virtue, if a pauper, is stopped at all frontiers.
Walz: "What's happening in MN defies belief. News reports simply don't do justice to the level of chaos & disruption & trauma the federal govt is raining down... This long ago stopped being a matter of immigration enforcement. Instead, it's a campaign of organized brutality against the people of MN"
Is this a fabulous essay, from my old friend Brian Forist, or what? www.clearwater.org/generations-...

A new blog, on the Substack platform, is just part of my reinvented media strategy for 2026. I hope to continue my work as a columnist as well. Here's a link and full explanation. open.substack.com/pub/theloose...
In July, the PUC ignored our Return on Equity witness, who recommended a more reasonable 8.1 percent. This time the PUC opted to trash our witness, explicitly rewarding Eversource's "gotcha" game at hearing. Shame on the PUC for stooping to such tactics. 10/10
Finally I must share my profound disappointment over the PUC's refusal to revisit its decision to grant Eversource a lavish 9.5 percent return on equity. This goes to the heart of the electric affordability crisis since it means free money for Eversource. 9/10
