Strange one.
Going to miss this as about to drive to Manchester Airport to pick up my wife. A one hour drive that feels like three on the M62.

These two things that make me nervous. But the right wing one is explicable in terms of the way I think about those less clever than me, whereas the left-wing one threatens that assurance, so I must insist that, nevertheless, they are the same.

Which is why it's a bigger problem than just transport. We've created a situation where essential workers are priced out of the places we need them to be.
But public transport can and does work in other cities and city regions because it has to.

It's so not a traffic problem, it's a problem that takes in 30 years (at least) of planning or the absence of same, housing policy, and general development strategy and specifically transport policy.

Yeah, I did check - doable in slightly less, but maybe if there were some suggestion in the article that a feeder bus from Rathangan to Kildare Station would deal with the worst bit of it, I'd take this more seriously as a report on transport.

No mention in the article of public transport alternatives. Which exist.

For many of us in cities, working and just getting by, this is most people we know; and those cities are the Labour core they are pissing away.

Not that long ago, attendances in Cork dwarfed all the Dublin teams. Even last year, in the Premier league, they weren't keeping up. The one team from the one city which should be able to compete with Dublin and Derry in terms of fan base, and they threw it all away over two decades.
