While they thanked me for starting this workshop, I assured them that it’s me who should be thanking them: for allowing me into their space, for opening themselves up, and for engaging deeply and creatively. What an absolute joy.

Keep writing.

Today, we had six guys show up. I had them each choose two words from our word bag and incorporate them into a story, poem, memory, etc. I was blown away by their writings, each with a deep story to tell, whether fact or fiction. They read aloud, clapped for each other, and offered encouragement.

Two weeks ago I started a creative writing workshop for men in recovery, simply as a way to get them writing (by hand) and thinking in creative ways. One guy showed up, but he wrote for nearly 40 minutes. We then workshopped a bit, reading our stories aloud. It was awesome.

I am once again going through Eels discography. EELS TIME! (2024) remains a modern classic, and I could listen to their live performance at Royal Albert Hall (2015) over and over.

It’s been a blast so far. Nearly done with s2 and honestly have no idea where it’s going, which is a good thing.

“ronny/lily” (s2, ep 5) is so unhinged and fantastical that I thought it was a dream or vision Barry was having. So thrilled to be wrong.

One should always brag about their physical media hauls.

Insanity. It really does feel like refs target Newcastle, as I can think of times when blatant calls are missed in our favor but called for the other team, even (and especially) when it’s not nearly as hard. While not an excuse for lost games, it’s deeply frustrating to witness.

Also - massive shout out to Will Osula for making that entire play happen before that beaut of a strike. What a sequence, and I’m thrilled that he had that moment. #nufc

Watched game highlights last night and I’m gonna need more explanation about Ramsey’s red (he wasn’t dramatic/didn’t appeal for anything) and why first half continued for nearly 10 minutes (!) when only 3 min of time was added. Both likely have the same answer: ref is awful. #nufc

Watched highlights after work - what an amazing effort by Osula on that play, from chasing the ball down, keeping it in, to that strike! Thrilled for him to have that moment.

Snagged these from a free little library. Loved THE TENDER BAR when I first saw it, but have yet to see THE GOOD NURSE.

Found a typo in our film log and we’re now the proud owners of JOSE AND THE PUSSYCATS.

On the flip side, he doesn’t have the financial backing to bring in better players for those he’d let go. Sure, we could say it’s his achilles heel that he doesn’t offload/replace, but the goal of this is to bring in better players, not simply fresh legs with an equivalent skillset.

Until Howe has at least one, preferably two, full seasons of financial backing to bring in new life to build around and/or replace some on the roster, I cannot dismiss him as manager. Yes, he has things he can do better, but that cannot happen without new life on the pitch. #nufc

Such a terrific thread. I am still very much in on Howe, especially as he’s never (this past summer doesn’t count for a variety of reasons) had financial backing to bring in substantial players. I do believe he’s taken the current roster, as constructed, as far as he can. #nufc
