Hopefully she will be the Zohran of DC bc the other choice is awful. Will come down to who she hires to lead agencies imo.
The only reasons Mary Cheh gives to show that Kenyan McDuffie "can get things done" over @janeese4dc.bsky.social are that he voted for some bills and pushed for his signature legislation Baby Bonds that he immediately horse traded away/defunded to Bowser right after they passed... π€
So you have also never seen a serious bag problem on a Metro escalator? I suspect these bollards will *cause* people to trip unfortunately, not the other way around, this isn't Wegmans. Picture 1500 Amtrak+MARC passengers lifting bags around this/waiting for elevators at Union Station...
I would care right now if I lived in Maine, but I don't. He seems very sketchy from what I've seen but I'm not an expert on the situation and I don't have the capacity to be.
No #MBTpubroll tonight, enjoy your night off. We'll be returning next week with an extra hour of blessed daylight woo hoo π!
(shh don't tell him, let him think he doesn't need to run lmao)
The thing I loved about Lone Star was that it was like $10 a case in TX but I'm worried it won't taste as good at DC prices lol
Saying no to change has been the biggest disaster to urban planning since the invention of car dependence itself.
Responsible planning must find ways to accommodate all the growth there's demand for. Not a convenient amount of it. All of it.
I don't give a shit about graham platner but most Americans live in car sprawl where they literally wrap themselves in bubbles of glass and steel to never have to interact with "the poors" except as servants so I'm sick and fucking tired of being told Bsky is in a bubble and others somehow are not.
Women: We live in a constant state of vigilance because men pose a constant threat to us, here are literally millions of corroborating stories.
Men: What a scary time for men this is.
If you want to do something good like speed bumps you need 70% of residents to sign agreement, if you want to stop something good like sidewalks, bus lanes, or more housing you need 20 unpopular cranks to scream disagreement... π€
I ride DC's Metro all the time and have never once had a serious problem with someone taking a large bag on the escalator. I have had, however, regularly serious problems with using the elevators (e.g. broken, disgusting, 5 minute long lines).
So this seems bad to me.
We need better Democrats.
Not a single dollar more for Trumpβs illegal war.
Fantastic advocacy from @freedcproject.bsky.social to help make this happen, grateful to have such a great group of neighbors fighting for the good people of this city!
It's also quite unprecedented. D.C. has never really defied Congress like this, if defiance is the right word. (You could say D.C. found a legal loophole to ignore Congress.)
yeah the damage a single bad billionaire can do wildly outstrips any positive impact even a theoretically ideal billionaire can have
more, I think that the kind of person you need to be to become a billionaire tends to select for the worst outcomes in all but the rarest of cases
"Ic ƿifode on hire, and heo ƿæs ful scyne ƿif, ƿis ond ƿælfæst." lmao thanks AI!
People complain about ads on soccer jerseys but soccer doesn't have commercials.
Meanwhile football is now mostly commercials, and now they're putting in even more ads.
The biggest theme of the American 21st century has to be enshitification.
I truly want to pick Ancient Egyptian and click submit to see if my entire screen turns into hieroglyphics - the only problem is I won't know how to click "cat" "pyramid" "tree" or whatever translates into the "back" button afterwards lmao

I was on the subway a couple days back and a young couple was loudly talking about the apartments they were looking at. Normal shit, except the focus of the conversation was they were worried that they disagreed with the one ChatGPT "liked."
ICYMI: Suburban development costs 38% more in upfront public costs & 10% more in ongoing costs than compact development, PLUS has only 1/10th the tax revenue per acre, confirms report summarizing 17 studies. Via @smartgrowthusa.bsky.social
The blunt truth? Sprawl is heavily subsidized by ALL of us.
The dumbest thing about "historical preservation" of neighborhoods is that the history of every single neighborhood is growth, by definition.
Banning neighborhoods from growing is deranged, ahistorical folly.
Calling AI slop "slop" is locking in with calling right wingers weird. Don't let up off the gas
Well I think he was trying to tell us that Paul's gay - novelist, doesn't have time for a wife, talking to davey who's still in the navy, yada yada yada you get the picture.
Gotta love a modern bardic shanty, there should be more of em, we don't respect the craft enough
You know, someone who writes books about real estate, or who like promotes novel real estate or whatever
