But for now I can get my blood tested every few months, keep my fingers crossed, and keep on living.
Apparently my complications were the subject of a expert panel discussion at the cancer institute this week. 🤣 I'm happier writing case studies than being the subject of one.
Because the cancer was aggressive and widespread (stage 4a, 9 Gleason), there's a substantial chance of it returning at some point over the course of my lifetime. Then I'll need to enter into a round of treatment and deal with that fight.
Based on how the cancer had spread to lymph nodes removed during the surgery and some of the nearby plumbing, they assumed it had spread to other systems and further treatment would be needed. For now? It's not!

Positive news! My PSA levels are under 0.1, in the undetectable range. If you don't have a prostate anymore, this is the biomarker to indicate presence of prostate cancer in the body.
