We aim to design our projects as sustainably as possible. But to be honest: for some project work, we still need to fly.
We support @TreesforAll every year to compensate the CO2 emissions from our flights through forestry projects. Trees for All is a charity with CBF accreditation.

Rainwater harvesting is coming to Irbid πŸ’§
Together with Yarmouk Water Company and the Greater Irbid Municipality, and funded by NWB Fonds, rooftops will capture rainwater for reuse. Less flooding, more local water, building on earlier piloting in Salfit.

Perspectives shifted as well. Gender equality and social inclusion moved higher on the agenda. A key change for youth involvement, and for women and men alike.

Even the journey changed. The railway from Dar es Salaam to Morogoro is complete. What used to be a six-hour taxi drive is now a one-and-a-half-hour train ride. Infrastructure shapes collaboration too.

In numerology, 2+0+2+6 = 10, and 1+0 brings us back to 1. The number of new beginnings. Of planting seeds 🌱, starting fresh, and choosing direction with purpose.
May 2026 be a year of brave choices, bold beginnings, and meaningful action ✨

Sometimes simple soil-and-water interventions create the biggest shifts in resilience.

What small water or land management solution have you seen make a surprisingly big impact?

BCERs capture rainwater, slow down erosion, recharge shallow groundwater, and help farmers grow during the dry season. One basin is already equipped with a borehole delivering 10 mΒ³/hour, and communities are asking for more.

A group of five people stand and sit on the edge of a runoff water collection basin in Burkina Faso. One man kneels near a pipe, letting water flow through his hands into the basin. The basin’s stone and earth walls are visible, and the water below is greenish from natural sediment. Behind them is a fenced area with dry vegetation and clear sunlight.

On a recent ECDD-GIRE visit with the Gourma Water Agency and the Bonsoagli Kilima Local Water Committee, we saw three new runoff water collection basins (BCER) in action. Even after a tough period for the region, the energy on the ground felt hopeful.
