I present 6/10 of the first wave of Care Bear characters. From the original crew that started it all, here's WISH BEAR! It was difficult to get the right shade of turquoise green for the fur so it wouldn't blend in the background much. My design for her hair is a pixie cut and based on two separate things; the first half is Rainbow Dash and the second half is based on a piece of fan art that I adore so much based off of this piece of fan art. For her tummy badge, I wanted to make it more "cool." Make the shooting star more of a "whoosh"-style, again, inspired by Rainbow Dash's cm. For the star Buddy, the color is just straight up Fluttershy's fur colors. It's up for interpretation if she's holding a random star or her pet star, Twinkers. You decide. I present 7/10 of the first wave of Care Bear characters. From the original crew that started it all, here's GRUMPY BEAR! I think we can all universally agree Grumpy Bear is the most beloved/relatable one out of the group; he's loved by all, and I bet you he knows it, but he'll never admit he's the popular one. Learning from what I did when I created the prototype picture, I used the same color palette and changed a little bit of his tummy badge for my official take on the character. Originally I wanted him to have a bowl-cut-style hair because I have always felt that he was the "Moe Howard" of the group. I tried five different styles, and they all didn't look quite right, so I went on a big search for what I could use as a reference for his hair, and once again, I took inspiration from 2007's "Care Bears: Adventures in Care-a-Lot" (shocker, I know), but instead of making it round, I went with making it pointy and curved. Know this, folks: he will show you his smile behind that frown of his...you just need to see it ;) I want people to see that I have high respect for this IP and give it great quality fan art. I present 8/10 of the first wave of Care Bear characters. From the original crew that started it all, here's CHEER BEAR! For her, my inspiration was a bouncing rubber ball and a hyperactive puppy. I had to slightly darken her muzzle and stomach colors so they would not blend in with my rendition of her tummy badge, which is pretty straightforward—a rainbow—but instead of across her stomach, I went with a rainbow with two clouds, which I think has never been done before with her and if that's the case, I'm glad I'm the first. I went to Great Lengths to make sure that the rainbow's color beam pattern match in all of her iterations. My Little Pony character "Berry Punch" was the inspiration for her hair while also taking inspiration from seasons 2 and 3 of The Care Bears Family TV show. Only this time, instead of a straight-up ponytail, I went with a hair bun style because it reminded me of a cheerleader's pom-pom. Nothing can go wrong with the classic mid-air jump pose. She approaches each day with a smile and a good word. Cheer Bear's rainbow is a symbol of hope and a reminder that even bad times can bring something beautiful. From the original crew that started it all, here's Love-a-Lot Bear! I'll address the elephant in the room, the hair design choice. I wanted to go and take a gamble and give her a unique style that I believe I am the first to attempt and give it a shot on. The two main inspirations for this are Spinel from Steven Universe and Chibi Chibi from Sailor Moon. I thought about putting the heart buns over the ears, but for each design I did, they just looked like upturned dog ears. Once I put it behind the ears, it looks better. I have her doing the heart hands, which are based off of my hands and were created by taking a photo of my hands doing the heart gesture, and I traced my own hands for her while also trying to keep the bear paw style. Once again the internees make a comeback for her. The face expression was what I went off of while listening to her intro song from the 1982 album "Introducing The Care Bears." Sounding slightly "mature," even for her, like a light-hearted Jessica Rabbit/Cupid style. She's all about the love and knowing love wins and love is love no matter what. The Goat Bedtime Bear

I present 10/10 of the first wave of Care Bear characters. From the original crew that started it all, here's BEDTIME BEAR! So when I started creating my rendition of the character, I wanted to really go all out with the sleep aesthetic, and the first thing I thought of was a messy hairstyle, kind of like the classic Bed Head. I didn't want to go overboard with it because if you do too much, then it just looks like a mess, so I had to figure out the perfect balance between "I just woke up" and "I'm not making it neat." I couldn't wait to get started on the eyes because those were key for me, and I just wanted to make it look like he hasn't slept in weeks, although he has, but he has the appearance of someone who hasn't. The posture and pose were another key thing; I wanted him to be slouching over, his arms dangling, and he looks like he's ready to, like, fall over and just pass out and be out like a light. For his tummy badge, it's pretty much like his original, but I made it simple and cute but kept it true to what the original looked like. As he is, he's nocturnal, but on rare occasions will he get a caring mission in the daytime, but if you're ever looking for him, look no more than within your dreams because when you see him in the daytime, they'll practically sleep anywhere. And there it is, folks. All 10 of the original Care Bears have been created, and wave one is officially completed. I'm super stoked that more will come in the second wave but for now that will have to wait for the time being, stay tuned ;) I want people to see that I have high respect for this IP and give it great quality fanart. I present 4/10 of the first wave of Care Bear characters. From the original crew that started it all, here's Birthday Bear! For his colors, it states he's a golden yellow so i made him a darker gold because I'd figure all the birthdays he celebrates with are all golden. I placed two references and a homage to another character....Don't worry, I'll tell you ;) First reference: His pose is inspired by a pose he made in the classic DIC Series! seen here Birthday pose. Second reference:The cupcakes he's holding are modeled off of his DIC series tummy symbol with the exact pattern of, I assume, sprinkles in exact order. Homage: Since this bear knows how to have good parties AND celebrate in the birthday category. Well, coming up with his own hairstyle was a task. I tried many designs until a certain pink equine came to mind, and as if like magic, what you see is what prompted me to make it like that. I guess they wanted to sprinkle some of her into him. And I guess that's how his personality is too, thanks, Pinkie. Originally I was going to make him a bit "chubbier" because in one of his original model sheets it straight up calls him "a fat little boy" and says he "loves to eat," so I tried it the first time, and he just looked like a thicker, overstuffed teddy bear. So I just went with a regular size, but I made the cheek lines rounder and longer. My headcanon is he does get, for lack of better terms, fat from all the parties he goes to, but the moment he returns home after a long day of eating nothing but cake and ice cream and stuff, like magic, he's back to normal and ready for the next day. Wish we can all do that LOL. I want people to see that I have high respect for this IP and give them great quality fan art. I present 5/10 of the first wave of Care Bear characters. From the original crew that started it all, here's GOOD LUCK BEAR! His colors are pretty straightforward: green, green, and more green. But getting that perfect shade of green was a little tricky, but it turned out beautifully. For his hair design, it was 100% taken and inspired by TV talk show host Legend Conan O'Brien to give him a unique look. I advocate that he always have an Irish accent because it just feels right. His current voice is okay to me, but it's just too "broski." I think the classic personality of good luck works better. He's everyone's favorite lucky charm but I highly doubt he'd help you win some scratch-off tickets.His tummy badge™ is just my take on his lucky clover. He's loaded to the brim with luck and he'll give you some with just a snap of his fingers. I want people to see that I have high respect for this IP and give it great quality fan art.
